Oops- I've never chimed in before because I just started my project not to long ago but I did read your entire thread a while back and took alot from it!
I hope Santa brought you alot of gifts for your boat so you can start to put all the pieces back together soon.
You know a couple nights ago while working on my boat I looked at the bow section and thought about what you did with the chainsaw way back when, and thought "that would be cool to have another couple feet on this boat" and then just like that I said to myself "not for me."
You are one of a kind!

man oh man !!

there use to be a warehouse next door to where i used to work. i had to go in there 1 day and i had to ask what they did there? there was a 10 ft section of a boat on a cart. they told me they big boats,bigger. they fab it in the shop and go to the marina and splice it in. they were going to make a 40 ft boat into a fifty ft'er

actually ....extensions are done all the time in the big boatyards/shipyards.

it is just not done on smaller craft due to the huge cost......

im just starting on the ships wiring right now...

all the bilge blowers and horns and stuff, as well as adding a shelf under the gunwhales to run heater hoses....
