Something I learned about finishes, is that the chemical make up from manufacturer to manufacturer can vary quite a bit. I've used all sorts of polyurethanes coating hardwood floors, and there is definitely a difference between them. The brand we are using right now lays down perfectly, and when you are done, you can look across the floor and know it will pass muster....most of the others it was a wait until it was dry, because you just didn't know....
You might want to look into the type of paint you are using and another brand and compare. The leveling agents are probably different, or different ratios, or the base component of the paint may be different allowing one to self level better than the other.
Something to think about anyway. We all know how Interlux Brightsides looks like, and I know how my Rustoleum on my truck topper came out. Interlux for the win!
