Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Heh. It's been -9F here for a couple days. Dipping down to -15 or so soon I think.

But my new insulated workshop space is 60 or so.. plenty good for work. :)

I'm still building up storage racks, a cutting table, shelves, etc. but I did get the stereo installed.

I'll be starting my build in January I think.

Stay warm, all.

well the weather guys here always say.. "a Canadian cold front", or "Canadian air";)... besides I have been to canada :p(ok Montreal, newfoundland, toronto, sudbury/coniston, fenwick).. most of those places are brutally cold.

I just have one thing to say..

thank goodness for that global warming.. imagine how cold it would be otherwise. :D

Not to mention the northwest passage, and Hudson's bay expanding southward.

The status of it is a bit up in the air right now. I can explain when you call, but that's why I haven't pushed it too hard.

On the cold thing, if I look at the 14 day chart on the weather channel, the white line that is the historical average looks like the top border of the chart.

Usually we are around 0C (32F) this time of year. Daytime highs have been in the -15C range (5F) with overnight lows to -25F.

I've lived in Winnipeg so I've lived in colder temps (as a kid, I've ice fished at -40 without a shed), but to be 15 degrees below normal is cold

Gonna be all of 70 here for next two days. Wish I had my boat prepped.

I spent a Christmas in Minnesota years back. Never had I been so cold in my life... It hurt to breath. I can't even imagine being further up north:confused:

Well, depending on weather patterns where you go, you might be warmer farther north depending on where you are. Minnesota can get as cold as parts of the arctic, and usually certain locations in Alaska are warmer than here.

It's not too cold to breathe most of the time... it's just cold enough that I wouldn't want to be out working on the car or something that required me to lay on the ground or work without gloves.

The cold keeps out the riffraff. :)

Been an average of about -25c (-13f) for a daytime high with a -35c (-31f) windchill here for the last couple weeks here. Just got done installing a remote start/alarm for my lady. Wire insulation definitely doesn't like this weather! Sure wished I had insulation in my garage, the propane heater might actually do something then *sigh*

be careful out here we have a few people who are passionate about this, and they really belive we can infulence the weather. even al gore though admits we as a spieces contribute 3.% of all greenhouse gases. last time i checked 3% really doesn't affect 97% that much

Al gore is an idiot!! Thats why scientists say that we are in a "global chilling". Its natural! It is a fact of life. A natural cycle. They still have not even been able to say that there is a ozone layer. They are not sure that it even exists.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Just curious about somthing,we were always taught to NEVER,EVER cut a straight line.we were always taught that there is more strength in a "V" cut ,or a "w" cut, this si meant to spread the stress over a less concentrated area,it also leaves less room for flex, torque and impact stress, like when you jump a wake or catch a roller the wrong way,I've only done 2 splices as we call them, both were done in seperate parts of the country by to different builders and both said to never cu a straight line it will always crack or flex over the splice and I can pretty much agree ,great job though! any thuoghts on what the old craftsmen said?
