I actually thought when I was watching your videos, "This guy needs a slot on Spike TV." It really does have that feel like your watching some sort of show like that, except a ton more information and not cheesy like those other shows.

Well I will do my best to keep it up. It feels like I am working two jobs though. If my viewership and sponsors keep growing like they are on youtube it won't take long before this could be a primary source of income.

That carpet looks great and the price seems about right for the good stuff. It only hurts once.

I saw your old Glastron at the lake a few weeks back. I had a few beers with the new owner. Nice guy.

Good question about the project. I am actually talking to a guy about a 79 Glastron CVX-20 with a 460 and Berkley jet. Was running this July, but threw a rod. Boat is solid, but the interior and motor have to be rebuilt. I would restore it for sale for sure, as I am not getting rid of the Sea Ray. I was thinking about setting it up like a TV show and have episodes, but so many people have said they like my of the hip shooting style. So I need to think long and hard about this, as I am not sure I want another project right now.

I'd love to see you do a jet. Plenty of good jet boat peeps around this area. The CVX is a very popular boat. There are a couple of CVX guys in our group. Be prepared, as I am sure you are, they are notorious for bad wood. You will have to replace every piece of wood in it. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can make money on it. People advertise them for 10K but usually they sell for much less. The going rate for a nice original running CVX jet in great shape and lake ready is ~ 7K.

people actually click the links on youtube vids? hmmm

I actually click on one or two every time I watch one of Jay's videos. Sitting through a 2-3 minute ad is the least we can do for the countless hours he has put in helping all of us. I see it as a win-win - the advertisers that support Jay get a few moments of my attention and Jay gets a little reward for doing all of this work and documenting it in videos.

+1 on that.

I, for one, would love to see Jay be the next reality TV sensation. American Boater.....Tuesdays on TLC

Jay,
I'm very impressed, but not surprised, with your results. What an amazing boat you have, I loved the videos with the re-naming and re-re-naming ceremonies. We all know the Boat Gods will watch over her now.

I haven't had time to check in on iboats.com lately as work life has been extremely busy, but I was very happy to catch up on your forum and videos tonight. That exhaust sounds AWESOME, and the carpet looks great. I can see ripping out my glued-in carpet, applying gelcoat and doing the same carpeting idea you just executed to perfection.

I regret being absent for the last few months but I had to say how impressive she is. Outstanding Job!!!

Not sure how likely it is with me living in New Mexico at the moment, but if I ever see you on the lake the drinks are on me. Neither you nor your father will have any luck picking up the bar tab if I'm around...

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks Nick for the Kind words. It is kinda sad that I am done with the resto. The good thing is now we get to do the fun stuff.

I apologize for not being around the forums much. Work has kept me hopping, and I really have not had much free time.

Here is a list of things that will need to be done over the fall/winter.

1. Replace Leaky fuel sender unit
2. New Radio and subwoofer
3. Scrun the heck out of the bottom of the hull with hull cleaner. it has developed a nasty stain.
4. Touch up a spot on the gel coat
5. Install a battery disconnect.
6. Go with all LED lighting in the Cockpit
7. Replace the trailer winch (Does anyone know where to get the Shorelandr profile 2000 winches?)
8. Replace the Master Cylinder and redo the brakes

I am sure there are a few other things that need to be done.

One weird thing happened yesterday. I was going to go ahead and winterize her (got side tracked and never finished) and I found a bolt in the bilge. It was front the rear of the exhaust manifold. Has anyone else had issues with this?

Thanks Wood. I will call them, but I think mine is going to be a custom job. The winch is built into the trailer.

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration SPLASH

Hopefully it came loose and didnt break. Havnt heard of it happening in boats but very much so in the trucks. Mainly the 6.0L LQ4s and some others, but then again those were all small blocks. The problem was that GM sent out all of the engines with Grade 2 bolts to hold manifolds on, naturally over time they broke.

However, it wont be hard to get to if it is in fact broke and most of the time IF they do break, the head of the bolt is what breaks off.
If it is broke, go ahead and assume the worst and replace them all.

If its not broke and no noticeable exhaust leak is present, put it back in and torque to spec.

Not sure if that was any help to you, if I knew as much about boats as I did chevys then I'd be doing a lot better. lol

It for sure did not break, but just backed out. I will re-install it and check all the others.

I plan on keeping this thread going as I do work or talk about the Sea Ray. This is the First of my Viewer's Questions videos series. It will go deeper into things that may have been missed during the rebuild

Thanks for answering my question about the red gard! I ended up not using it, because for one the smallest container it came in was a gallon and it was $50. It wasnt even red gard, it was off brand.

Thanks Jay!

You have given us all tons of boating advice and we thank you. As someone who sits in front of a computer 10 hours a day, let me return the favor. GET the MAC. You won't regret it. Much like boats, you get what you pay for. Ivideo is so easy..it will be a Godsend in future line of work. :D

MAC is the bomb, get one. I just made the switch over to a Lenovo ThinkPad (work driven switch:mad:). It's a nice machine but pitiful compared to my MacBook.

Plus, they're aluminum. ;)
I have 4 Macs and a dozen or so PCs I use regularly for work and the Macs give me many less problems.
