Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

Jay,
In the picture do you have any measurements from the transom to the rear of the motor mounts and to the front, as well as how far apart they from inner edge to inner edge and outer edge to outer edge? I am getting my engine area ready for the OMC to Merc 5.7l swap but cannot find out how far off the transom and how wide the mounts should be. Appreciate any help you could provide.

Jay I have seen this alot down here in the desert of nevada/arizona...that looks like the cleaner you used has heated up, and we'll call it a stain, but it's just the reminants of whatever cleaner you used to clean it...If you would have left the cover off for a couple of days you would never see it again...im sure yours probably had something to do with the moisture in the air as well...

oh yeah pm sent

Jay, sorry to hear about the vinyl, haven't had that issue before. I used to use Clorox cleanup on my sea ray, made it nice and white. It was also good if I had any mildew issues. Glad you guys are finally getting to use her!

My measurement will be different because I have a Big Block. I think it was 22 1/4" wide for the motor mounts. I mock fitted the engine to make them.

We have found that bleach is our friend.

I wanted to mention in my thread that Arch is having a meetup at Lake Eufaula on August 20th, and we are going to try and make it. The kids start school that Monday, so I have convince the wife.

Jay,

We have been on vacation for 9 days and I am just now getting caught up. We need a iboats app for the i-phone (lol) so we can stay up to date. The Corsa sounds great. I am glad to see that everything has gone well and you are enjoying the Ray. I need to get back on mine. We rented a ski boat on Canyon Lake this past weekend and the kids had a good time. Looking forward to seeing more videos with that big block breathing fire. Thanks, Steven

I haven't chimed in for a while, just been watching the videos, but I wanted to say congratulations Jay. The boat looks great. Just curious, have you gotten that speedometer fixed? I'd like to know how much speed you get with that big block.

I guess it is time for some updates. We had a great weekend on the boat, and have sunburn to prove it. I cleaned out the spark arestor and she ran even better, and used less fuel. It was pretty dirty. I have put a solid 6 hours on her since the splash, and things have been perfect. I still need to fix the gauges, and that has really got me perplexed. The Tach I think is just shot. I have messed with the dial on the back and it is set correctly, but still shows the RPMs to be way off. I will take a picture of the back of the gauge and see if the guys in the engine forum can help. I replaced the Lights last night, and added to guide on pipes to help when loading and backing up the trailer. I also got a new depth gauge, but have net installed that yet.

Today we took the boat to the local recycler place and had her weighed. We weighed the boat and trailer together, and then dropped her at the lake and drove back and weighted just the trailer. I have to get a title for the trailer, and here is Texas the require a weigh in. So drum roll please... The boat weighed 4440 lbs and the trailer is 1080 lbs for a grand total of 5520 lbs. All of our gear was out of the boat, and I have about half a tank of fuel sloshing around in there. That is less that I thought to be honest.

So here are some pictures from the weekend

Jay, looks like you guys had a great time, I'm glad to see you on the water and not grinding glass! The font on the name turned out excellent!

Awesome job, boat looks great!

About your gauges, do those gauges use a voltage limiter? Some used to and can cause the trouble that you're having when they go bad, worth a look anyway. Do you happen to have a wiring diagram for the boat?

I've read that bleach will aid the UV light in decaying the upholstery thread. You might want to find another product. ---- chris 22ft 5.7 Stingray 656zp bowrider: "the 'arg hour"

Awesome Thread! Thanks for all the good information. I will be using much of it for my winter project.
