Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration
Jay, I have to say thanks. I'am in the middle of doing stringers and deck on a 1985 Baja Force 200. After watching your videos and reading your posts, I've gained alot of confidence to take on this job. The last person who did this deck left alot to be desired on workmanship so everything had to come out ( man I hate removing foam ). Well after I had everything torn out and fiberglass dust everywhere, I noticed when it rained, where all my water was coming from. I had to seal everything top side like the windshield base, bow rail mounts, ship to shore mount, basicly wherever a wire or screw/bolt came through the top side had to be seal with 3M 5200. I feel that this was major source of my problems because where I was seeing all the leaks removing fiberglass dust was where the deck was rotted out. combine that with carpet on the sides and deck, well you know what you get. Just thought I would share this little tidbit with everyone as I have gained alot of info from this forum. Thank again Jay.
