Yep, those are on the chopping block. Might keep the wheels but just put larger off road tires on.

That should help haul that sea ray around.. 4 wheel drive is super nice at the boat ramp too.. I use the 4 wheel to pull my boat out.. Just to kinda make sure it still works:D.. The extra traction is great..

You know what they say about four wheel drive?? Will cost ya 4x the money and get ya 4x farther away from help:cool:

Good find on the truck. Only 16K miles? Who buys a diesel 4X4 and only puts 4K a year on the clock?

Bwaaaaaaaahahahahahaaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was waiting for that comment. This truck is just a dream, and I am glad i made the purchase. You can imagine I was a little gun shy after the boat ordeal.

I got the skin of the transom cut off today and it is just as bad as everything else. I will post some pictures later. I have a night out with the wife and i have to get ready.

Here are some pictures and video of what I found when I took the skin off the transom. It was worse that my Glastron.

Over the next week I am going to start getting my stuff together for re-assembly. I am going to need alot of help on what to buy. Things should really pick up soon with this build so I can have it done for Summer.

That's crazy, that a 95 model boat has that much rot. Good luck and we all know it'll turn out great.

BTW. Do you have a link to your glastron thread? I have searched for it but can't seem to find it in it's entirety.

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

Great work Jay, I have to say, your vids have helped me a lot, in that I was still thinking about that 89 Steigercraft that is at the local boat yard, that I drive past EVERY day. Looking at your vids has helped me overcome the old boat/bargain hunter's delusion that the deck is really OK the transoms solid, etc. After going through just a deck and stringer job, no way I'd want to do that again. Here, the weather does not cooperate. We have had the worst winter in years and the weather is not consistently warm enough to do glass work until MAY!! All of this helps me realize that I have to just bite the bullet and buy a 2-3 year old boat next time. Used but not used up. That's how I buy my vehicles now and it's worked out great for me.
I don't mind maintaining all my stuff, but glass work I do not want to do. The dust, the resins, the health risks, I do not want any of it. ....

There are high tech surveyors that use thermal imaging technology, that can find rot and voids in glass work in ways that was not possible before. That might be the only way, I could consider a wood/glass boat again.....

The part I hate the most is demo. I like to build not destroy. If I could get a boat already stripped I would not mid so much. I really think this will be my last wood core boat.

I am dropping the rims off tomorrow at the powder coaters. I hope they can get them done quick. The tires on this truck have to go.

Your right man. I should shut up.

Good news!! I got the transom completely out today. I will get video and picture up tomorrow. I made the video more of a how too this time for someone that is just starting out with this.
