Wow. I don't even know what to say to that. I think that's pretty willfully blind and not very realistic to say that the republican party is about "integrity". And let me remind everyone that I am NOT a Democrat or a Kerry supporter, as I so painfully established here at Dockside Chat some weeks back.<br /><br />I think if the Repubs were about integrity, we would, for example, have clear and transparent insight into **** Cheney's energy policy meetings and the possible links with enron and the like, and there certainly would have been no need for all the BS rationalizations about the Iraq war. They would have just laid it out plain and simple:<br /><br />"Iraq has a lot of oil that we need to maintain our lifestyle up until the last possible drop, and saddam has gone and cut deals with the russians, the french and the chinese for when the sanctions are lifted, and priced the oil in euros instead of US dollars. We simply cannot abide this sort of thing, especially after all the years of pandering to saddam and all the support we have given him ( for example in his war with Iran). He betrayed us, and that's why we need to take him out and replace him with someone who will deal with US instead of all those other countries and deal in US dollars to boot. It will be a long, bloody and extremely costly conflict, but, given the potential instability of the Saudi regime, the diminshing supply of oil in the world coupled with the ever increasing demand, we really have no other choice if we want to stay on top and retain the lifestyle we've become accustomed to. Buckle up, it will be a bumpy ride!"<br /><br />If any of the republicans had ever said anything like this in public, THAT would have been integrity. Because it's a lot closer to the truth about the situation than ANYTHING that has been offered up so far. <br /><br />As far as the draft goes, integrity would demand being up front about that, too. These guys have many more wars in the planning stages and it is folly to think that that will be possible with an all-volunteer military. Its been said that the military brass don't want a draft; well, a lot of them didn't want this iraq war either, especially not this version of it.<br /><br />And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I think George and the gang have been dishing out lies and BS since day one, about almost everything, so I just don't get the "integrity" thing. I'm pretty much with you on your analysis of the Democrats though.
