Re: Deck coating

If the drawing on page 3 depicts where the tank truly is, then those can't be "Boxed" stringers. They have to be more like 2x or 1x 10's or 12's laying on top of the foam and tank. The pic shows the tank underneath them. I guess they could have cut the sides out to accomodate the tank at that juncture. It's hard to tell with all that foam in there. One of the previous pics does show the bulkheads looking like they are a box type construction so it's possible the longitudinal one's are as well.

Re: Deck coating

Well it might LOOK like fiberglass but it could be Wood encased in woven roving fiberglass. Are you saying there is a Side Vertical Wall extending down to the hull on the sides of the 1x10-12??

Re: Deck coating

Yes down the center of the boat I am assuming you call that the bilge area front to rear there is woven fiberglass that goes from the 1x to the hull about 10" and there is no wood on either side.

Re: Deck coating

Thanks greenbush future My plan is to replace all the foam and your right the foam is not horably wet but it is wet and if I am this far I might as well do it all. I am not all the way to the transom quite yet but as of now it seems solid fingers crossed

Just a little jc but the lights and heat are on you can come on up

Re: Deck coating

The area within red circle is the woven fiberglass without any wood backer this is the area under the 1x12. The green area is the bulkhead in front of fuel tank

Re: Deck coating

These 1x3 run from port to starboard and the 1x12 sit on top no wood down from 1x3 to hull

Re: Deck coating

Foam was not to bad but its all coming out to put in new. My new question is I figure my best plan of attack is to get all the floor out in the rear picture in post 91 I assume if I cut these 2 storage areas out close to floor transom and gunwales I should be able to re tab them in any thing I should be concerned about

Re: Deck coating

Just be careful and take your time cutting and you should be fine.

Re: Deck coating

Yep, probably. Cut them free right in the corner, keeping the blade parallel to the hull so you don't dig into it.

As before though, you'll need to grind back the brushed on white coating inside & outside of the boxes to be able to tab them in. Same for the hull sides where they attach.

Re: Deck coating

Ok one more question I want to cut the lower section forward and the upper section back to one level more deck room. Do you guys think I will have strength issues with the gunwales moving the lower section forward
