2gal of gas & $15 vs epoxy painted tank......

I think I'd go 31gal, save the $15 for boat gas and get the epoxy paint 'free' ;)

Did they bid the same dimensioned drawing? Odd that there's a 2gal difference. Doesn't really change my suggested choice, just a bit odd. Variations in volume calcs?

Yes gave them both same dimensions The cheaper epoxy coated doesn't come with the sender. and the other one cost 85 more to epoxy so I think its a wash I have to contact them by phone get the exact specs then compare but I am sure they will be close

Thats what I thought. I was going to call them and discuss the difference make sure comparing apples to apples but there quote has all the same sizes and thickness. And I am the type of guy that I get your price. If you were higher and then say you will match or beat my other prices I will not buy from you for 2 reasons 1 if you can match or beat the price originally you were over charging me 2nd the other guy was fair from the start he deserves my business

Re: Deck coating / Turned complete restore

I'm NOT a Gelcoat expert!!! Most of the guys that are have recommended using a Pot gun like this... HarborFreight $60 bucks. From what I've learned here on the forum, the key is to spray it on aoubt 5 mils thick per coat and apply 4 coats to a total thickness of 20 mils. (That's about the thickness of a Penny). It will Orange Peel Like Crazy. You then apply either surfacing wax or PVA to the final layer so it will cure properly. You then spend a LOT of time sanding out the OP and smothing it. And then even more time Polishing it. I don't know Anything about the gun you posted.

From reading it has a disposable tip and cartridge so less cleanup in between coats. I believe largest tip is 2.0

2.0 - 2.5 is a good size. I'd recmmend calling 3M and talking to thei technical support. The are usually very helpful.

Sooo what kind of use will this boat be seeing? Refresh my memory please. If you anticipate a lot of use where you will need to raise and lower the anchor then a pulpit is a handy thing to have. They can be a hassle at times when loading on the trailer. JMHO.

Well Wood main use will be fishing Lake Erie so that's why I figured I put the windless on. Then looking at it it just seems that the anchor will end up hitting the boat. So I figured a small pulpit would help Thanks for your reply

Re: Deck coating / Turned complete restore

Yup, same principle. Gelcoat's a lot more durable for a deck and you can roll it on with a 10" short nap roller with excellent results but paint with hardener will last a good long time as well.

I'm not very familiar with boating on Lake Erie but if it involves a lot of "Anchoring" then having a good functioning pulpit would IMHO be an excellent idea for your boat.;)

Re: Deck coating / Turned complete restore

Blue line is the deck height red line represents 10" up with csm from deck tabbing. Now the plan is to do the top of the deck with woven over the 2 layers of csm. then I thought I will do the gunwales top down to deck with 6 oz. any opinions
