i decided to inlay a sheet of .080” aluminum under the seat bases for the screws to grab on to. these were in the boat when i bought it, not sure if they were original or not. i’ll sandblast them then epoxy them in place. shouldn’t have screws coming loose now.

Think he’s laying down your favorite....eeeeeeeppppooxy. At least I think that’s how you pronounce it. CSM would be for polyester resins. Though I agree, I’d put some glass there if it were me, biax cloth for you epoxy guys.....:D

Well I did EEEpppooooxxxyyy 1700 on my underside. pretty sure that was cause of digging into the info at the time and was
recommended. Not necessary but recommended.

You are 100% correct.....but 1700 is a biaxial and absolutely used in eeepppoooxxxyyy layups, not CSM. If it was my boat, I would do the underside of the deck the way kcassells did it for added water proofing and structure. Use 1700 biaxial cloth, not CSM. :fat:

Man.....spelling eeepppoooxxxyyy the correct way is really tiring on my thumbs......glad I stuck with poly. :loco:

i’m using epoxy resin just to seal the wood. originally it was just bare wood. i assume the cloth would make it stronger, but also thicker. my understanding was epoxy resin was fine to use without cloth. i don’t need any more strength, just want it to last. sure, a thicker waterproof layer would be better, but didn’t think it was necessary. i would like to hear everyone’s opinions on the subject though. i haven’t installed the floor yet, so i could add cloth if it’s really needed, but that also adds to the cost.

Definitely not necessary with epoxy. That being said, if it were mine, I’d install the cloth. I like to overbuild stuff though, so to me adding a layer of cloth pays dividends in making it super strong and extremely moisture resistant. It’s totally up to you in how you build it. The only wrong answer here is to install bare untreated wood, which obviously you’re not doing. So you’re doing it right, IMO.

first piece of carpet going in. hopefully this glue doesn’t allow it to sag. seems to have a good hold immediately. was tough to trim it close, cause i couldn’t hold it in place properly. that’s why it’s so big. i’ll trim it closer after glue has set.

Looks awesome!!! I was lucky enough to save most of the carpet I took out & used it for a pattern. Also had my girls help me with those side pieces. We held them up & taped in a few spots & used the spray contact glue. One side we did a left to right & one we did top to bottom -- not much diff. just a little stressful with the big pieces

back half of carpet isn’t glued down yet, out of time for today. then will have to trim and tuck the edges.
