Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

I got the soon to be tabbed areas smooth, ready for tabs.

Except this one place....anyone else notice this from the other night? I sure as heck didn't!

DSC01051.jpg

Oh well no worries...I had a few spots that need a touch up any-ways.

Managed to sweat a gallon or two while doing the smoothing...

I also got this ground down. I think it would have been easier to just remake the darn thing....but it is ready now.

Looking at all the nice scenery and the 2 great looking picnic tables in so much shade makes me want to go and have a big barbecue.
That is a nice looking place to be.
I missed the corner too.
I hope you have a fan blowing in one end of the tent. Don't want to hear you passed out in there.
I love my zoot soot. I tried to wear it to bed the other night and my wife put me in the garage. (LOL)

Ya Decker we are planning to have a big cookout. Oldest grandaughter is coming down for a week. Looking forward to some good eats.

We do have a nice looking yard, when it isn't full of rain.

Hope you have a good holiday. Mine starts Friday and excited to get it going!

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Vacation has officially started!

Someone snapped this with me in deep thought....and caught the Mrs telling me it was time to eat
DSC01053.jpg

Pretty sure this was the culprit...turning 12 Sunday....what a handful!
DSC01054.jpg

All the deep thought was to come up with these gussets for the areas along the sides of stringers. I want a strong Deck!
These...(note the dead grass from the fire the other day)
DSC01055.jpg

Turned into these....
DSC01056.jpg

Which became these...will get them installed in the morning...got dark on me.
DSC01057.jpg

Had a little resin left over so made some PB and finished that place I had forgot the other night.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Holiday weekend!

Will be providing updates all week as long as the weather holds out.

Secondly, may your Vacation time be full of making great family memories and continued progress on the boat...

Third, now you have me a bit worried...that first picture of you in deep thought, holding a sliding protractor and making calculations...Hmmmm, I don't know...

Enjoy the time off, Troop...:D

Now it is time to get to working on the tabbing...

Think I will wait for it to cool down. May actually work at night vs in the day.

I don't know, it is is looking pretty TANK solid as it is...Great lookin structure...by the time you get it all tabbed and 1708'd in, to my inexperienced eyeballs, it looks like you could beach that boat at full throttle and just barely scratch the hull...Heck, you could prolly pull a James Bond with it and still come out fine...LOLJames Bond Boat Jump.jpg

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

All in all, was a productive day...

Got the gussets made, PB'd in....and managed to get almost all the outside edge of stringers tabbed! Just missing one section up front.

DSC01062.jpg

I tried to plan the work out...

Had all the glass cut, ready to lay down. Bucket of resin up on the back of the boat. I just poured what I needed. I did 350ml batches. Worked out pretty good. I got one layer of CSM and one of 1708 down. I would like to finish the inside edge and do the gussets then move to cutting them down to height. Once that is done, do one more layer of tabbing, but have it go over the tops of stringers. Anyone see an issue with going that route? Going to get up early to beat the heat though! It was a tough one to be out in the sun all day....

Oh and got the grill put together for the Mrs.!

Beautiful work, Troop. You've come a long way.
How thick is that plywood? 1/2" ?

Thank you Sir!

I am using 3/4" throughout, even for the deck.

I was just going through my pictures...and you are right, it has come a long way. Recollecting how I thought at times this was never going to happen. But looking at today's pics, it is starting to look like a boat again.

I hope I have enough resin to last the week. May run out...almost on my third 5 gal bucket and still have tones left to get glassed.

Troop that is top notch work! I can't wait to see your face when you splash it. Finally got my rig out of the garage after going through all my anal particulars for the season except the engine's final tune and tweak for our first outing on sunday me and my little lady (daughter) got her cleaned up and waxed. Hope the cook out goes well and I'm sure you'll have plenty to talk about while showing off your hard work and craftsmanship. Happy holiday to yo and yours!

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks FF....but I am my own worst critic...you want to see top notch work, check out Archbuilder's Nescher thread, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=364284..man what attention to detail....and GT1M another one that pays attention to the details. Me, I just am slapping it together.

Good luck with the boating this weekend!
