I wouldn't mind a 60 degree day once in awhile...this heat is tough on an old man!

Another hot one today, wore shorts under the tyvek...helped alot.

Tried doing the final height with the 4.5" sander...worked but slow going, going to wait for payday and get a belt sander and do it right.

So....that gives me time to do other things...like fix the front bow-eye...

Cut it out and found 75% of it was embedded with this coconut hull looking stuff, very little resin.

As you can see the wood they used is dry of resin/glass...not very strong...

I have found my most favorite way to grind...laying side ways in 100+ weather...arms outstretched as far as they will go....the exhaust and pad sending bits of glass/resin in my face and neck....man! what fun :)

Got all the loose carp cut down so I can fix this a little better than it was.

Started removing those foam blocks...seeing that no one objected.

OK, I give up for today..I am tired, wet, itchy and spent!

Nomatter when you think you are done grinding, something else pops up. Hopefully that is the last of it.

You are making some great progress... So close to decking... I am jealous....

You have a blank canvas up there on the bow... You could always close it up for the classic, close-bow runabout look? Nah, seating is hard to give up...

Looking good... this heat is brutal...

Thanks PMC....def getting close to decking...trying not to rush it so I don't make any mistakes.

Closed bow...thought has crossed my mind...or maybe a fishing seat? think the boat is too high for that though...

Absolutely...both counts!

I'm still nurse maiding the Admiral. Her back is all jacked up from that fall. I've not even looked at my boat for two weeks. You have been busy and doing some fine work. Hopefully you have been piling on the Baby Powder to help keep that Itch Down!!!!! For your Eye use Plenty of LONG STRAND PB. Take some Scrap 1708 and de-strand it and cut them into 1" strands and some csm stands to and mix them in with the normal pb mix. It will be super Strong and you will NEVER have a bow eye problem again.

That is looking great. It starting to come together now. All your work is paying off.

Is the temp gauge you are using inside the cover you made over the boat. Man that is to hot.
You might want to put up something over the cover you have now and raise it a foot or so higher and use a tarp that has a dark color to it.
Would give you some shade inside boat and help keep it cooler by acting as a barrier to block the sun.
Just a thought.
Don't over due it in the heat. Your looking good.

Thanks Decker. Has been a tough week so far, but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes that temp gauge is in the boat, but unless I am grinding, I pull the top back to keep it cooler...the temps are with it open...been very warm.

I have thought about putting a tarp up when working during the day, but felt it would still keep it too warm, if we don't get rain tomorrow I will try it out.

I take plenty of breaks though, don't want to get heat stroke or anything.

Rained stopped...yay!!!!

Finished up the grinding in the bow....
Took the shopvac to the dust....

Only 86 under the tent....but I still was sweating buckets...

Debating options...

1. Leave it as is and start sanding with the belt sander on the strings/bulkheads/gussets
2. Mix some resin up, apply it to the tops of the stringers, edges of bulkheads/gussets - just enough to fully seal the wood. All exposed board edges are lacking resin right now.. then take a water hose to it to get the rest of the minute particles out so I can go back in with a clean hull to sand.

Option one I will need tyvek suit and my respirator on
Option two I can get by with just the respirator.

How goes the vote?

This may be a dumb ? do you need to sand the stingers and such. It's getting covered up right. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so maybe a little confused.. :) But hey you got a deck now !:D
