Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Have not even got everything unpacked....and the honey-doos have started...

Spent some time in the garage tonight, trying to make room for the boat. Boss has it behind his place, has to drive through his yard to get it out, so have to wait for the ground to be frozen, warmed up last weekend so it is kinda soft right now...

I tell ya it is sooo nice to have a garage....not sure what to do with all the space...propane has been ordered, if I can get the boat inside, might actually get back to it..been awhile, I'm starting to miss her...

It will be once I get some propane, has one of those ceiling mounted heaters, hope it works well. HH.....just a little bit :)

Everyone should have a garage like this...

No really, I don't want to get garage envy, so the longer it takes to post pix the better.... :snowman: :cold:

JB, I seem to have misplaced the USB cable for the camera...I'm sure it is in a box around here somewhere though....in the meantime...found a free app that allowed me to make this...I was using it to figure how many studs and how much sheetrock I might need if I decide to finish the walls.

Well judging from your pic I would guess about 2 sq ft of drywall should cover it .

This may be of some help, all in screws, tape & mud. You can include deductions for door & window openings, but at $15/sheet, I might go a few sheets over the estimate.... AND get it all delivered. But don't forget to insulate 1st. You'll want it up north.

If it isn't doesn't have full electrical, you could wait & run more electrical surface mount, but all the conduit will make it more expensive.

LOL...that would be nice if it were so....I'm figuring on ~30 sheets...and ~62 studs + whatever it take for the floor/sill plates

Nice link JB!

There is electric, but I can't stand the way it is installed...no switches for lights, not enough lighting...these old eyes neeed all they can get anymore it seems...outlet recepticles too low...and to few of them...got to make it the way I'd have done it if I built it myself..so..got a little work to do before the frywall goes up...and yes adding insulation..it already has 3/4" styrofoam type installed...not sure it is enough..

If you have to stud out the garage to D/W, unless you intend to mount HEAVY stuff to the wall, you might go 2ft centers for the studs, since they aren't holding up the roof.....

And use 10 or 12ft D/W if you can get them for the walls, maybe 5' wide too. If your hanging by yourself or w/ the Admiral, 4X8 for the ceiling. I find large sheets very awkward to hang overhead, unless I'm supervising & NOT hanging it ;)

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

You going to use wood studs or metal ? You could put R11 in 2x4 wall with the 3/4 foam already there would be real comfy . If you go with metal you will need to put backing in everywhere you want to hang something . If I was closer I could come over and we could knock that out in no time . Been doing drywall for about 30 yrs and yes my back feels it .

Troop designing your garage is a blast! the only thing I plan on changing when $ permit is I went with D/W on the cieling and it was a mistake in my application due to the fact that I use the above space for storage. I plan on replacing it with a pre primed T111 for durability and the look. Things did tend to slip off the planks I had for the resting place for stored items and I should not need to say what happened when that occured! Just my 2 cents.
