Holiday update...
Got up this morning ready to go out at 7 am...was cool...too cool for me...think it was around 38 or 40 degrees...
put on a jacket...climbed in the boat and starting thinking about what I wanted to get done today...but all I could think about was how cold I was...so what gets the blood pumping and burns calories which in turn heats a person up????
Sanding (by hand) of course!! Besides, I wanted to get the windshield on and the tops of the consoles needed sanded....
So started out with 120, then to 220, then 320, then 400, then 600, and finished up with 2000...these were only grits I had available...too cold to wet sand so went dry...I was not in no hurry, just tok my time, concentrating on light even presssure...and was surprised at how easy the gel was sanding...think I found a new way to sand gelcoat by hand anyway...
Even though I thought I had sprayed enough gel on the cap...found out I need more sadly...

started warming up after this sanding...no help to hold the windshield pieces...so...started thinking about the fishing platform for the bow...used a bucket...and a laser level to mark my lines...
Just kept connecting the dots...this is only a reference line to try and get an accurate measurement for cutting the plywood...
I did not get a picture of the nextr step...just used one of the old bimini top rails..laid it on the bucket and used the holes for reference to get my measurements accross (thank PMC)...laid them out on the ply and eyebsled the radius and started cutting... It actually fit pretty good, not perfect, but I got to PB and tab the edges anyway, so no big deal...
and now..this is where my infiltration into the tinny camp pays off!!

...at the very least, you will know what the wet thickness is and with some learning and practice, be able to figure out what the dry thickness is...
