Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Trooper, I just finished reading your whole post. I wanted to read the whole thing before I replied to it. Being that I'm at work in Egypt for now it took me almost a week trying to read as I could. I have just got back into reading these since I have made up my mind to start on mine. I have been putting it off for awhile now but you have given me the oomff to try this out. My boat is alot different than yours but alot of the things you have done, I can use on mine. There is also another thread,http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=461659, by Swire that I have been reading. He has the exact same boat as mine but different name. I have a 83 ebbtide dynatrak fish and ski. I will be making it into a ski boat only with all the ideas I got in my head right now, I think any way.I have to say your thread is the best out of all of these I have read. You have given more info than I think anyone has. I don't mean to hurt any of the other guys feelings but it may be that I can relate to what you are saying being that you were a beginer when you started and a professional now. I sure appreciate guys like you that put it all in here for guys like me. You have done excellent and I can't wait to see it finished. I hope I didn't highjack or ramble on to much for ya'll.

Thanks Chasin-tails.....not sure that I would call myself a pro by a long shot...but I am getting to understand some of this.

I am glad that anything I am doing has helped anyone in anyway possible. Almost a year gone by now since I started the thread..I have learned tons...and still have alot to go! Shouldn't be too much longer before I am ready to try my hand at shooting gelcoat...that should be fun :)

Inspiriration of watching other's threads in here is what got me thinking...hey I can do that...with a little help of course...

I try to be short and to the point in anything I do...glad it helps...I'll be watching for you to start your resto thread...welcome aboard this crazy ride here too!

Welcome back, hope the road trip went well.

If I were to want a pack of pecans, that might be transformed into pie :), would the details be available via a PM?

Welcome back, safe and sound, Sir!

I am not the least bit surprised you missed sanding...I am actually looking forward to some grinding myself...

That is if I can get this tub right side up again...

Have a great weekend of boat progress!

Trooper, What are you using as fairing material? Work is looking good.

Thanks...making my own...poly resin, mixed with fumed silica and glass bubbles...no one has complained about the recipe so hoping it is good to go....mixing till creamy then spreading.....I need to learn to put it down, smooth it once and the leave it be....trying to get it perfect and makes more work actually...but it sands pretty easy so it isn't all bad...

All that glassing, sanding, glassing again, I bet you have thought you could have built the whole thing from scratch and had less work

What kind of working time are you getting with the fairing material. I usually get about 20 - 25 mins. What are you using to spread it with...a bondo spreader??? On the Flat areas I tried to mix it a little on the "Ketchup" side since it wouldn't have as much tendency to run and it spread a lot easier and filled smaller cracks an pits better.

Guess I got about 15 mins...bondo spreader and a pice of that white vinyl sheet I got awhile back...as for consistency...it is spreading ok...and getting in the low spots...I may be going a bit heavy on the mekp..
