The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
got about 1/4 of the sanding done that needs done today...going to need to put one more pass of filler in on some spots...going well..kinda cool temp wise for louisiana...refreshing actually
Pics tonight...
1 from below, not particularly close will warm the to be filled area.....
Another off to the side from above to help warm the area if needed, probably won't.... It there's a breeze, a wind break of any kind would help the lamps get & keep it warmed til it kicks.....
Mixing at just below 70 sounds like you might get some extra working time
sorry folks...spending time with the mrs...wood..I like the reevits idea, wish i had seen them sooner....jb...I like that idea too adding to the puck art...hey that rolls off the tongue well....I broke some off that were like 2 inches long...
Pecan forcast....they are dropping..wind today had them falling all day long...but still plenty in the trees...dropping into the 50s here tonight...that wil loosen some pecans for sure...
I did not wan tto chance the resin not kicking....guess I'll spend time on the hull tomorrow, then the coming week has me travelling again...so no new updates till next weekend...should be in the 80's though...so maybe...just maybe...I can get some good progress going...
Hit 62 degrees while I was airfiling the hull....decided I would make some fairing compound...take a piece of that plastic sheet I had left over from the fuel compartment..use it as a squegee to move the compound...theory worked good in my head...might have been better to do only what I could reach with my arms vs. trying to move my feet...also could have used a wider starting glob of fairing material..all in all I'm not too unhappy with how it turned out..might have to get the heat gun out to help it along though...
Turns out the first batch was cured by the time I got back out there..sooo..
Sanded it a little to knock down the highspots....
and did the next section....
no real recipe for the mix..just some fumed silica and glass bubbles...mixed until the consistancy of honey or maybe just a tad thicker...going to take a couple passes along the side of these areas...but I think it is going to come out great....
You can try using a piece of vinyl wall base to pull the filler . Sometimes we will use the base at work when finishing round columns with joint compound . It work pretty well usually ...
