A couple of things to point out. If you look at the barn before the sandblasting of the trailer, you will notice that there was more paint on there. It's off topic a bit, but when sandblasting, sand goes everywhere.

After

One other note. I used to work on car bodies. Once sanded to bare metal, I started using an epoxy primer for bare metal. The stuff was great to spray and very durable. It was available at a local autobody repair supply store and probably more than what you would pay for something comparable at a hardware store, but the results were worth it. The only down side was that you had to put a coat of regular paint on it within a week.

Good to see you back on here again. Looking forward to the trailer pics. I spoke with the Majic Paint techs for over an hour on the phone about your issues. He even sent me a quart of the primer for me to test. I have not used it yet, since I loaned my utility trailer to a friend in May and he STILL has it. Guess I need to retrieve it and give it a coat of the stuff and see what happens.

Welcome back my friend.

Didn't get back as soon as I thought.. But I do have some pics..

Wood, don't let the primer set to long or it will do like mine did..:blue:

Thanks guys for following this slow going old man..

Just a couple of pics showing the trailer.. Still need to mount the bow stop and winch. Will do that after I have the boat back on the trailer..

Have a good week..

Yeah, doncha just hate it when people buy NEW stuff and try and pass it off as a PROJECT!!!:D
As, usual Decker Outstanding Craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Still have not used the primer. It'll be interesting to see if it does the same for me as it did for you.

Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Did some work on getting the hull all cleaned up and polished..
I used a sealer on the gel coat called Pro Polish.. It's made by Shurhold..
I like how it is a sealer and not a wax.. Saw this on u-tube..
Here's a couple of pics..

I thought it did a really good job..

Hope to get the hull flipped tomorrow and back on the trailer.. Will be a long hot day..:faint2:

Hope everyone has a good Sunday..
