Thanks Trooper and WOG..

I still haven't put any sand paper on the new gel coat as of yet..:deadhorse:
But I did some very needed clean up around the yard. Had a couple of weekends with very nice weather.. in the 70's..

Have a few before and after pics..

Looks like a handy dandy 5 gallon Resin bucket, one man, one handed, tipper/pourer:)...

GT got it right.. I'm to old to be trying to pick up a 5 gal. bucket of resin and pour it into a smaller bucket and measure how much I poured and not spill it.. So I came up with this.. :sneakiness:

Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Got up this morning to a cool 33 degrees so I waited until noon before starting to sand on the hull..
The sun was shining and hardly any breeze.. It was a great day to start... Got up to the mid 50's..
I used the DA sander with 180 grit and just took off the very high bumps..Then went back over with 320 grit
to take it down smooth.. This worked very well.. I was pleased how it truned out.. Will get some pic's up tomorrow..
Also used the black marker and drew lines all over and then wiped down with acetone on a damp rag. That was suggested by Yacth Dr.
Worked well, but don't have to much acetone in the rag or it will wipe off all the black markings.. Just need the rag damp so it will smear the black markings..
Hope everyone had a good Saturday..

I got in a few hours today on the sanding.. The pics to me look the same as before but no pics didn't do the work.
So here they are..

You can see some darker places that I didn't sand near the keel and bow area that has too much curve to use the DA sander.

Another from the transom..

One of the transom..

And this shows the disadvantage of being out side.. A moth got in the wet gel and made a mess that will have to be repaired..

Hope everyone has a good week..

Looking good, Decker!

Just a tip...you can still use the D/A on the curved sections, just use a finer grade of sandpaper, like 600-800, using a light touch [ carry the weight of the D/A, and use the edge/outer third of the disc, more so than the flat...cut down the heavy stuff, then go back by hand to finish up...

Thanks for the tip.. I may give that a try.. Not that good with the DA on curved parts.. May use a 5" electric sander with the finer gritt.. It has a foam backer pad..

Looking nice!!

Thanks Trooper

Thanks PMC.. Been peeping in your thread, doing some great work..

No pics today.. They look just like the others did.. But believe me I did get the other side sanded.. Just need alittle bit on the bow done
and then detail all the radius all around..
Need to make some sanding blocks out of styrofoam like GT1M did and see how they work for me..
Hope everyone has a great week...

Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

It's been awhile since I last posted. Have the entire hull sanded down with 400 grit wet/dry.
Still looks the same but it is getting closer now.. There is alot of hull to hand sand..
Now we have the daylight saving time I hope to finnish the sanding during the week..
Have a few places to fix on the bow but the rest looks good..
Bought one of the HF pacifichydrostar pressure washers and its leaking at the coupling on the wand.. What a peice of junk..
Used it about 4 times..

Looks great!

I find some HF to be difficult to call 'good' sometimes, 'good' enough usually, and up to the task sometimes....

If you exchange the pressure washer, maybe you'll get 1 not made on Mon am after the superbowl
