Hey Decker .....I haven't posted in a while but I have been watching. Your workmanship has been excellent from the start of your project and is continuing. You, my friend, are a true craftsman and my hat is off to you. Great job!

Not a whole lot of orange peel .. check.
Looks even and coated .. check.

Nice work man. Quick patience is all it takes.

That baby is gonna look like a mirror when your done .. :) .

Quick tip here that I give in the gel threads .. scribble some magic marker all over the place ( let kids make smiley :D faces on it. ... Then wipe it with a damp acetone rag to smear around the black Marker. Use this as a 'sanding guide' for your 320 or 400 grit starting paper. Dont sand anymore than you have to. Take about 90% of the orange peel out before moving on with the next finer grit sand paper. Your not 'fairing' anymore .. your just sanding out Orange peel to buff.

Mark it up again when you get to the 600-800 grit range to show When you can stop sanding. It helps with the 'dont sand through' thing.

I recognize I have no credibility or standing on glass man threads (justifiably so), but, that looks really super nice! Well done decker:D

I just read every single post in this thread...I sure hope Decker comes back.
I've got a 1988 Deck Boat very similar to his which needs work and I have loved watching his progress.

Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Hey guys, I hope all of you have had a great start this New Year 2013.
I have not done anything since my last post with the gel coat. It was getting cold and
seamed to rain or snow or just plain bad outside so I am waiting for better weather.
Just took a long rest for the holidays.:couch2:
Now the weather is getting better and I am starting to get a little more motivated now.
Getting caught up on some of the other gentlemens threads helps alot also.:friendly_wink:
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

JTracy
