That thorough work is going to pay dividends post-splash for sure!
Man I hope so. Thi past season I ended it early. Bildge pump coming on every couple of minutes to pump out a gallon or two of water. Never managing to find all the leaks.
I should have known better the guy swore it didnt leak a drop and the motor was good. Regaurdless I was replacing the motor. I love old things but I am not trusting a 40 year old motor with other lives when your far enough out you cant see land and help may not come.
I got a good deal on the boat even all things considered its wasnt a horrible deal. People just cant tell the truth anymore.
Rather than go through it again I decided this was my best route. Once I am done atleast I wont have to worry about the boat for a long time and can just maintain and enjoy it

Make sure to let the 5200 fully cure before you paint it. Guessing you will be using it on the patch.

It should be cured. Yes I will be using it both on the patch and on the 12x24 of .125 sheet I am putting on the back to both cover up some pitting and the replace the sponge errr wood on the outside of the transom

Got the last of the rivets drilled last night. Tonight I am hoping to have them replaced and do the patch. However bottom paint might not happen till next weekend. Some if the rivets that will be holding the patch on are for the knee brace and I still have to reenforce it

Got the knee brace repaired. Welded the cracks what a pain that was then added aluminum.250 angle to reenforce it. Made the bottom patches way bigger to double as reenforcement top. And just finished replacing the final 200 rivits. All in all I replaced about 600 rivets. Bottom paint tomorrow. Then she goes back on the trailer for a coat of gluv it inside. I gotta finish drilling the transom holes then it gets it's final coat of epoxy and it will get installed for good. She's coming along finally starting to feel like I am making progress

You're making great progress. That's a crazy number of rivets to replace. I did less than a dozen on my hull. Do you have a warm spot to work? That Gluvit likes warm aluminum to flow properly.

I am doing it in my garage. I am using a deisel heater I keep it a 75 for 72 hours for the epoxies and will for the paints too.
Ill crank it up to 90 when I do the foam. I know temp is important for these things.
I did discover a rivet in the back seam where the outter skin kinda chipped next to a rivet basically wallowing it out bad. Its an an area that would be hard to rerivet or put a patch so I pasted the 5200 in real good since there will be epoxy inside and out.
Part of the problem near the end was as I was hammering some rivets in heads were popping off of others. So I started smacking the hull with a rubber mallet to try to find as many that were going to do that as possible before I put the foam in.

I have spent 3 weekends doing Rivets. Luckily my girlfriend and her kids are enjoying working on it too or Id be screwed since I cant do rivets myself. I am surprised she hasnt made an account and popped up in this thread honestly.

I am hoping to get it wiped down and primed on evening this week. The 5200 wasnt completely cured I guess cause the humidty has been high so I am giving it well at this point 4 days. I want it done but I dont want to rush and mess things up like not have sealants fully cured. So this weekend hopefully bottom paint and I am replacing the rollers on the trailer and I need to make new bunks since whats on there was made out of pressure treated wood and the screwed all those rivets that sat on them. Then the following weekend itll go back on the trailer for gluvit and to start making the new floor.

When you do the gluvit, do it in batches and use a syringe to apply to seam. Makes it a lot cleaner and prevents waste.

I am hoping to get moving on this project again next weekend. I needed a short break to just relax. Went out to work on it Saturday. But All I did was get it flipped over and ready to go back on the trailer. I ordered some stuff for the trailer that will be in tomorrow. So this weekend it gets all new rollers new bunks. Then it goes back on the trailer. I am hoping to get floor templates made then a new floor cut and fit if there is time. Once thats done I can drill the rest of the holes in the transom then the inside gets gluv it and I will seal the woof for the floors and the insides of the holes of the transom. Then hopefully the pace will pick up. I can get the pour foam in and get the splash well and consoles back in. Then paint. Then put down the vinyl flooring and start redoing all the wiring from scratch. I gotta refurb the windsheild frames and get new T's for the bow rail in there somewhere too

Finally making some progress got it back on the trailer after replacing and wrapping the bunks. Cleaned up some runs and the lines from the bottom paint. Working on cleaning up the stringers to install them so I can get the floor cut and ready. Hoping next weekend to possibly be coating the inside in gluv it

Nice progress. Interesting jack you have there. Something useful to have laying around a shop.
