YUp, I just need to keep plugging away here, I'm bound to reach the end at some point!

May I point out that you have been plugging away for years and have been at or near the end on many occasions!! Then somehow the end result gets sold, swapped, cut up to be rearainged! So this leads to a question that can only be asked on the BIG HUSSIE thread.

I just figured it out. There is no end to this. No "finished" boat. It just leads to another rebuild, then another rebuild, then another, and another. And we were all sucked right in!

Yeah, just think what the Islander/Bowlander must be thinking to itself. "Oh what will become of me?"......

I watch this thread with interest and amazement, it is entertaining and informative. As others have stated lots of drama, complete with plot twists. There has been blood letting, inventive flotation and inspirational accomplishments. I'm living vicariously here.

In total it is a lifting experience that kind of makes me want to go find boat that needs a little tlc or a complete rebuild. :joyous:

Then the Admiral wakes me from my dream and I realize how lucky I am.....

... to have found a splash ready Starcraft.:D

Yea someday there is a complete rebuild... ...someday.

64 - Go pick up Jason's top and put it on the Mariner. Maybe the karma will balance. :D

I think I have gained 10 pounds over the course of watching and reading this thread, almost every down with a half sack of brewskis and a bowl of popcorn. I hope it ends before I need new jeans.:D

Too late, it's gone. I put most of that alum skin at the end of the drive for one of the local scrappers to grab. She'll eventually show up in a soda can near you buddy.

Nah man! Your girlish figure hasn't suffered a bit![love]

OK, check it out, you'll see here I've added in two more stringers and sealed up all the wood....
P1110351.jpg

Once I install the bow seating access to the bow most space and the two spaces at mid bow will be no good. So, you'll also notice I filled em right up with flotation. I also ran 1 1/2" foam board in between the stringers, flush, for extra flotation and extra deck support.

The two stern most spaces I should be able to get medium sized hatch access to, so that should be all right.

K, from here, I'll be working on my rod locker. I think I've got it figured out how this should be built, so maybe a couple/few days and that should be good to go.

I'm glad I decided to be ok with the idea that this boat will launch in the spring. Yesterday afternoon it snowed hard for about 20 minutes. Nothing stuck but it was a good reminder of what's on the way:snowman::smow:

Looking good Jason, sucks there won't be a splash yet this season, but winter is coming fast. We are forecast for lows of -10 to 12 c for Monday and Tuesday with daytime highs of only 0 to +1. I guess once a guy gets his head wrapped around it "boat building season is here".

Jas, Dude! I was away for a couple of weeks and the poles shifted! I like it though, I think I would have done the same. That behemoth will be plenty of cabin boat for sure! My project has been on hold for awhile due to a back injury, but I just had an epidural so I'm ready to join the ranks again. What's next?, shopping for a crew boat????!!! Lol

For non Canuks --- that translates into rather chilly! Yikes man... you can keep those temps for sure!

Nice work there... the bow transformation is taking shape nicely!

What's this?

Where are the empty pop bottles? The Laundry detergent bottles? You're going to lose your bottom feeder credentials if you keep making this look so nice.

^^^ :lol::lol::lol:

Looks great Jas.

A pre-made horseshoe seat out of a Mariner would look great up there too!

Yah, I'm cool with it. Wish I could have but with the major tear down there was just no way. The good news is I should be ready to float as soon as the ice is out, awesome:joyous:

Thanks man, yah, this "Bowlander" and the big 261 should make for a pretty comfortable fleet. Two cabin boats just didn't seem to make sense ya know.

Thanks buddy, just pllugging away, I'll get there.

The Laundry detergent bottles?

Bah, no worries! There's a few in there!

Yah, that bow cushion set up will be about like that, just not the nice sweeping curve that the Mariner sprots:)

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

So yah, I got my rod locker tubes all installed, these will be great!
P1110360.jpg

I'll install another bulkhead over top of those tubes to finish it off nicely^^^.

These two center center storage sections will get painted up and I'll install a plywood bottom wrapped in carpet...

That space will be locked storage so it'll be nice for electronics as well as my rods. So far so good!

Now here's a quick dry fit of a pair of consoles I found laying around in this giant boat not too far from my shop...

My 2cents for what it's worth,...

I'm not a fan of tubes in rod lockers, They take up too much space,....

I put all rods in rod socks to protest them and fit more rods into the space,.......Just my opinion,......

Those consoles look good in there,......You don't need them on the big boat???

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

No Dood, I'm not going to make this boat a tiller....

Oh wait, sorry. Standard teamster response there:rolleyes:

Yah, actually those tubes are big. I can actually fit two rods per tube. And ya, I'll never have more than 12 rods on this boat. That space up there would have never been used anyway so bonus in my book eh!

Yah, I think those consoles will really fit this boat well, pretty excited actually! I love that the passenger has a glove box there, super handy. The captains side really has too many big holes in odd places for me. I'll need to be a little creative to get that one to look good. I have a few ideas I think I can pull off.

Consoles for the 261? I have a plan:joyous:
