Somewhere out there is a young child that is wondering where their floaty noodles went. At our Dollar store there are these float things that are made out of the same stuff as the noodles but are flat (about 2 inches thick, maybe a foot wide and around three feet long) I think maybe it's supposed to be a surf board? Anyway I used those under my flooring between the bench seats. Everything is shaping up nicely, should be an awesome fishing rig!

OK guys, still plugging along here. I grabbed those consoles from the 261 and chopped off the bottom 7" or so. Then I just folded over the bottom to make a "foot". Here they are dropped in the boat to check for fit...

I think they will work out great!

Over the past few days I have been less fond of the idea to seal up those two front hatches to install the helm seats. So, I just lowered the bow seating, which in turn pushed back the consoles, which in turn pushed back the helm seats. So basically, my helm seats will be installed right were they were going to be from the beginning. Kinda like yo..

I sure like that set up a whole lot better! I maintain the hatch access to my seat boxes which is great. Also, I avoid having to build out all sorts of backing/strength that I would have needed in order to install the helm seats there.

WIN/WIN :thumb:

Tomorrow, the brown truck will be here with my new windshield. Getting that mocked up will be key to making sure all this fits together like it should, eh:joyous:

Have a great Sunday fellas!

Inspect the window shipment thoroughly before signing,..........

Glass shipments can be very sketchy,..............

Looking good Jason, maybe the angle of the photo but it looks like there is no where for your feet and legs to go, almost like your knees will be on either side of the wheel.

I'd cry if that glass is smashed:blue:

Yup, that's just about right actually ^^^. It's just about the same height set up as the Sea Nymph which was quite comfortable:thumb:

Thanks man, pluggin along here....

Are you thinking of closing the gap from the consoles to the gunnel?

Yah, that photo is a little deceiving actually. The height of the consoles are exactly the same height as the gunwales. Now, the gap between the side of the console and the gunwale, well, that will actually need to be dictated by the center section of the windshield. So, after I unpack the windshield I see taking the next couple of days dryfitting, adjusting, staring, thinking, looking, measuring, thinking. Knowhattamean?

Ok... got my vote there... looks somehow more proportional... hard to 100% tell in the pics... but less work... and your happy with it... makes sense.

Have you applied for corporate approval yet?

Yeah, I think you need to move the seats back anyway; Otherwise, I would see some serious "shin-banging" going on, as those consoles appear to drop pretty low on the front side.

I know a lot of it may depend on your windshield (which I hope arrived today safe and sound), but it might be easier to start fresh given all the mods and hole filling you are going to have to do make those work and tie in with the angle of the gunwales...

Just looking out for you (and your shins)...

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Got UPS today? Maybe that puma finally arrived.... :suspicious: :censored:

But I do think PMC's on to something though, the new & improved Islander layout is still a MUCH bigger boat then the SN. Even cut down 7"+/- those consoles came out of an even bigger boat. No reason to jam the seats up too close or 'plan' a cramped helm area, IMHO....

I do like the boat part swapping: Rob the Islander to finish the SN, pull consoles off the big rig for the Islander, pillage a glasser for all it's boat goodies. Up early, 1 bite at a time, whatever it takes: Just plain ole' good boat building, still knocking it outta the park.

Ya got about 30days to make SOTY 2013 w/ nearly 5 whole days @ Turkey day ... I'm just saying...... I mean ya got it nearly 2/3rds done already :faint2:

Yup, the BRON TRUCK showed yesterday, I pulled the new glass out all was good!

This morning I woke up at a ridiculous hour and started up the dry fit. I worked through about a half dozen versions but I do believe this it the best fit, check it out...

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I like this new windshield a lot! I think it kinda says fun bowrider but I also think it kinda says this is still a fishing rig too. It's not too big, not too small, not too sleek, not too utility. I like that there is a slight green tint to it and ya know what, she sure doesn't look like an Islander anymore!:becky:

By the way, trying to dry fit a 5 piece windshield over two consoles that are loose - yah, you need to be an octopus for that kinda work.
