Hey Jason - The Islander isn't getting all your attention right now because the siren song of the Sea Nymph is overwhelming. The SN is turning out to be a great member of the fleet and fits you needs for the summer. Your pics show all the fun you and yours are having. Plus the pool, rent houses and add a few Honey Do's - Heck man, you have to sleep sometime.

No big hurry to get the Islander done! Salmon fishing is AWEFUL this year, BUT there are some monsters around. Take your time and do it right so next year you can kill the chrome.

No doubt the numbers have been down from all the reports I have seen on GLA, GLF, and other sites. I will have to say though that the quality of the fish is outstanding this season. Hoping that I have the timing down right this year as I will be heading up to Frankfort/Traverse city on the 16th for 10 days of salmon slamming. Will be sure to stay away from Frankfort during the Benzie Frenzy.....there is enough bumper boats out there without a tourney going on.

Hey Jason, following along. Like the look of that deckover product. how does it feel when its wet with water? does it have some tack to it? I've got so many things going through my mind on how to set up the interior of my boat I can't keep them straight.

Just piping up to say I read the thread, beginning to end. It should be a rite of initiation for new members. You've got a TON of great information in here!

That said, you could totally make a sitcom... backyard boatbuilder with 50 projects and tons of energy? I'd watch it!

You do some great work bud, hopefully you'll have her done before the world ends!

Dunno yet, I can tell you what it's like with coffee all over it though:facepalm:

I just browsed through the last 20 or so pages that I missed while I was away working on other projects, looking good!

Bow rail is sharp! I do like the look of the first leg slid forward the 8''. How did the pool and deck come out?

Hey Jas, luv the way the rail looks!
Just a tip, if possible, fling open the garage door, swing the boat out and have a good, long distance look at the bow rail...
Tell ya why...measurements and such are all well and good, but they can also be deceiving...
If you get back from it and it looks "Right", then good to go, but sometimes backing away from something can show you something that would not be obvious from up close...
The angle of one of the uprights may not look just right, even if the measurements are spot on...and believe it or not, our eyeballs can pick out a discrepancy as small as an 1/8"...
Just wanted to throw that out there, cause once you done drilled the holes...well ya know...
And I think I am tending to agree with you on the NO carpet deal...;)

Hey thanks guys:joyous:

So I stole a few more minutes and mounted that rail, sweet! GT - yah, I tried to rely on taking careful measurements and a little less eyeballin, it was tricky and took a while but I think I got it. Check it out...

(man, I really need to find my camera, these photos are really poor, sorry guys)

Here are the bullet ends taped into place. I actually slid the support rail further forward giving me a 12" tail there, like it...

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Yeah, bro...that's the ticket...
This image is kinda what I was talking about...you can really see the awesome job you did measuring, 'cause all the uprights look to be at the same angle with a nice looking sweep to it and everything looks nicely aligned...
Great job!

And I do like the extra 4"...;)
Guess its time to start drilling some holes...

Oh man, does this boat need some paint huh!!!

Well, it may appear that way, but I know it'll be September before this boat sees color. Rats.

The good news is we are leaving for the UP at the end of the week, yah baby!!!
