Your a cool cat! I love watchin the smile on your face, out in the Jet Star when you opened it up for the first time! That boat flys!

Note to self: Must acquire tinny Starcraft someday

Peace bro-

Let's not get .... [umphh]... sorry just threw up in my mouth a little...

As I was saying, Jas is a cool cat and his boat turned out beautifully, but let's not get all carried away with crazy talk... Take a step back, take a deep breath.... Put the cool-aid down...

[Edit: I think I might possibly entertain the idea myself one day].

^^^ Yep, he'll have us all up at 4am, putting on the funny orange robes & selling flowers. I think al-u-lean-I-um dust causes drain bamage.................

Hmmmm: Aluminum Toxicity I quote:
The list is endless. Examine the problems troubling you or your loved ones, then examine the daily diet of those affected. Beware of denial, a common problem that occurs when concerned friends or loved ones are trying to help. Victims are sometimes incapable of recognizing or responding to symptoms. In fact, entire families can be seriously affected and yet appear to be "normal" to those who are unfamiliar with the symptoms.

Thankfully PMC we don't have those problems.

Ours tend to be worse:facepalm:.............

Jas: I really like the recent Felini-esque camera work. I've never seen up another persons nose from that angle, and never that many times:eek:. You tend to have a somewhat startled look on your face:D.......Must be all the coffee, or maybe the pre-dawn runs.?.!.?.!.?

Glad the outdrive rehab is going so well. Looking forward to seeing the 4.3 swing in over the transom.

This boat has turned out to be quite the project!! The good news about boats is, it is never really over you can always find a great reason to open that wallet!! I love boats especially the metal ones!!

Thanks bear! Yah buuuudy, I had a blast running that Jet on Sea Trial Day:D

Yes, you should acquire a Starcraft. I'll not argue with you there my friend:) (or at least a metal boat anyway)

Yah, apologies about the big ol schnozz blocking up the whole picture. I know it takes up about 2/3 of the view. I do believe that comes from the German side of my heritage.

I love boats especially the metal ones!!

Preach it!:D

Dont hate, Congratulate I say!

Fist bump Kev:)

Looking good! Enjoyed the 'Hammer' portion, glad to see the 'Skillet' didn't make an unexpected & sudden cameo....

It's been awhile, but the rest of the outdrive is in as good a shape? Just a little cleanup, a few new fittings & some grease correct. Thumber lives on..... AKA: 'SS Thump-en-stein?'

Lovin all the how to vids. I'm thinking I need to do the same on our ski boat this year. Where did you get that Merc tool kit at and what did it all include? When u gonna swing that motor in? Your getting awfully close now.

Somehow I have been quiet enough to keep my bride asleep but loud enough to get the job done;)

Yah, the outdrive will be one of the last things I'll get my hands on actually. It's hard to say for sure at this point but I believe there is just a bit of surface rust on the U Joints that needs attention, and, certainly the water pump will need to be changed out.

I decided to push that way to the back of the job as it'll just be sticking in my way as I am working in the garage there. So long as I do a good job aligning the engine, the outdrive install should give me no trouble when I get to it.

DISCLAIMER!!!

These videos are in no way shape or form a how to!!!! Yah, I have a sign that says Mercruiser Service up on the wall but I am winging every step here! I have searched a ton for a video on a gimbal bearing install but I could not find one. So, pretty much everything I am doing here is virgin ground really, I just hope I don't screw it up!!! Listen! I was dropped as a baby! Lots!!! And I ate paint chips through my wonder years (still do from time to time actually)!

Anyhow....

Here is the set that I got, great deal I think...

I don't believe they intended that round piece to be used they way I did in the video up there (per their instructions), but uh, well, it worked perfect!:)

Yah, getting closer to the engine install:D:D

I think I'll finish up the transom assembly service first (bellows, bell housing, etc...) then move inside the Islander for V6 flight:)

Nah I think you are doing just fine. Thanks for the link, that's a really good deal for a bunch of tools. Are you gonna make some vids for the bellows install as well? I heard they can put up a good fight going on. Atleast you only have one to deal with one since you went the exhaust tube route :D

Yah, if it makes sense, I'll shoot a little footage of the bellows install. I just don't want you guys to have to sit there, on the youtube, for an hour and a half as I try to figure it all out, and wrestle it on, ya know.

Yup, I'm hoping the exhaust tube will save me a little frustration anyway.:)

Actually, now that I have made the switch to PC from MAC (which stinks by the way) I don't even know what to do for video editing.

Those videos are straight up on/off (bet you could tell huh:p)

What are you using buddy?

Hey Jas,

You're taking the forum in a whole new direction!! Now it won't be enough to just post photo's... we will all have to post video's showing actual work being done! :) Great stuff though. Gives a much clearer understanding of how to do it not just what has been done.

What were you using on your Mac?

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I thought when you bought a Mac that Steve Jobs personally showed you how to edit videos and create graphics and stuff. :p

What else am I supposed to comment on when you're working on the delicate innards of your I/O? Not like I have any wisdom to impart. So you better just get used to the ribbing.

Well, since the camera is toast and I won't have a replacement for a couple of weeks you guys are stuck with my ugly mug on video updates. I guess.

iMovie, good stuff
