Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Just watched the video, I changed my settings to be 100 post per page, great on a computer, no so much on a 'smart' phone's 2X3 screen..... So close, and bang, Murphy shows up to look over your shoulder. Sorry to hear it/see it...

Glad it was a small bellows, hope it's not too painful to get another rush delivery! I hear FedEx has a point to point priority shipping. They send 1 guy in a van to pickup your order & then he brings it in that van non-stop direct to you! Expedited priority, something like that. Nothing like spending more on shipping then on the part..;) Been there, paid $1500 to expedite $1400 in custom specialty tile LA to Las Vegas. Casino had the general contractor we were working for, by the short hairs to finish a project before a holiday weekend or face liquidated damages. They paid it, but were NOT happy about it....

Hopefully there is some Thumper left-overs still available to sell off & get that replacement bellows soon:)

Now you can spend some time practicing the installation maneuver so ya can do it in your sleep when you get the new 1....

Have a great weekend...

Well good news...

I just contacted my marine dealer, he has a bunch on hand and he's right on my way home, so that's cool:)

I'd really like to get this bell housing all buttoned up by the end of the weekend.

Ok maybe I changed up your wording a little bit but it's all good ;)
Mob tested, Mob approved hijack of Jas wording!
Let's put it to a vote, anyone want to guess how the Mob will vote for or against motor install this weekend?

It's u-nah-na-must................ We look forward to the pending photo/video montage of the motor being lowered into the large gapping maw of the Islander's bilge! Glad you found a nearby replacement bellows should make this ^^^ mission easier! Either way, the mob will still be here on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

The $30 may seem to hurt, but given the time savings getting it today (!!) instead of paying @$15 on evil-bay & having to wait until mid-week, or later, next week for delivery, sounds like a nice compromise.

It is a bummer to know you might have been able to not spend the $30. At least it wasn't a finger, toe, hand, eye or lung mistake. Those tend to be a bit more costly & problematic to replace:D. Besides, after Thumper's oil pan major cost savings, I think your still in the correct column on the balance sheet!! Don't make me drag up the 'dancing islander' footage to remind you how big a bullet you dodged then too.....

Wow. Bummer on the $30 bellows. $30 can buy lots of donuts. Or a couple cakes or pies. I feel your pain.

Dooood, that just suxxx!
Sorry to chime in too late for salvation, but besides lurnin the hard way, you already figgered out that a little lube makes things slide easier...remember the first time...
And you could have still used that bellows...but I won't tell you how cause its tooooo late now...:p

Anyhooooo, lookin forward to the lump install...

PS- just a reminder, we be here on iboats to try an learn what it is we don't know, so next time remember the old adage...
The only dumb question is that which is not asked in time to prevent cutting an appendage off or spending un-neccessary fundage...so sorry man, I just had to throw that in there...

That's only like $3 boat dollars. Heck, it's practically take a penny, leave a penny in "local marine dealer" dollars :p

At least you have it and you're ready to move on.

The lesson learned is...if in doubt use lube. Still talkin' boats here...

For a little more you could have got the whole kit. I found them cheaper elsewhere but this was the only one with a pic. Atleast you got it before the weekend so you can get working on it. But 30 bucks is 30 bucks, I mean thats like 6 gallons of gas

Looks good! That exhaust tube looks like a breeze to install compared to a bellow.
