Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

That thing is so ridiculously awesome that if I was even remotely considering EVER possibly being in the market for that type of boat (as we know our friend Mike is) I would beg, borrow, steal whatever I had to do to bring that thing home. Seriously.

That's like the equivalent of if when Mike was looking for his SS a 16' had showed up with an Evinrude 70 on it with tilt and trim with a nice interior set up for fishing for $1500.

More peer pressure, love it:)

Does not having the titles screw things up in MI?

That boat will sell for $1500 (or there abouts)

Which, is basically like buying the OB and getting the Chief on a trailer for free;)

Well, my kitchen renovation project took most of the day yesterday. No aluminum involved there, just drywall. Drywall is a drag.

I did manage to finish up my new tail light housings/step though.

I started with this...

These came off of the old 4Winns now new Jet trailer. It already had two steps on each fender so a third seemed a waste. Besides, the Islander didn't have any!

So, I chopped of an unnecessary chunk, knocked off all the rust, primed, painted...

Bolted on...

I even ran the sand treatment for traction...

I ordered these LED's from WalMart, should be here in a week or so. Best deal I could find at $50...

Besides, all I have going on is epoxy curing. Talking about you snatching up a big ol Chief with an OB for cheap is way more fun!

A kitchen remodel and resto at the same time. You are da man! I'm trying to get my honey do list in order and she already knows that once I get going its full speed ahead.

I like those lights and it seems like a good price too.

Just checked out the price of 3/4 Aauco at Lowe's...$39.95 Ouch!!! 3/4 MG ply is around $90. Hope your getting better pricing in the mid west.

Well, I had landlord duties today. I don't even want to say the job I had to do. I'll say this, I would have rather worked drywall for a week straight than do what I had to today.

Yah, well, it's all going way slow Michael, on all fronts.

Yah, around here I see about $29 for Arauco and About $79 for MG. So, little better anyway.

Cheers guys!

OK, little progress, last coat of epoxy on the big backer plates. Also doing some careful measuring/potting/scheming for side panels and flotation. Some other stuff too, not much that is photo worthy. Although, I will give you guys this shot. Here is Ethan giving me a hand on my flotation panels...

Figure you guys who work with your kiddos would appreciate that one.

Have a great weekend!:D
