It has been very tough to get any time to work on the Glastron. I could flip it at any time. Really want to get all the rub rail holes and extra holes in the aft filled and sanded before I flip.

I used up all my boat time this week having some real fun. My buddy just repowered his 1987 Cigarette cafe racer. Twin 540 horse stroker motors built by express engines in Deland, FL. We spent the day on Friday with the mechanic asking questions and finishing up the final touches. Took it for a shakedown run on Saturday in the St. Johns river. Hit 74 mph!

Trying very hard to find some time for the Glastron. Well, the tow vehicle died so I am stuck doing this with my free time...

I guess it counts as boat time, its for the tow vehicle. New longblock on stand.

I made some progress on the Glastron this week. Moved the hull onto concrete slab to prep for flip. Ground and glassed a strip along the inside edge to back up the numerous holes where the rub rail screws down. I also patched the old fuel vent hole and repaired a couple of shoddy pathes on the hull. Then started sanding the outside hull in preparation for hole and spider crack patching.

When is the flip ?

I wish I knew. When its ready. Been a very busy year. Still don't have engine in truck.

Preparing to glass in old rub rail holes. Grinding out gelcoat cracks and rotten glass on the edge of hull.

Wow. 2 and a half months with no progress. So busy with life. Moved the parents from Tampa to JAX, living with me. Had a crazy busy workload. Purchased some property with a 24x20 metal barn for a boat shop.

Last week I was clearing some brush on the property and got bitten by a brown recluse spider. That cost a bunch of $$$. I laid in bed for a week with a 1/2" w x 1" deep hole in my leg. Still recovering.

Lots more to do on property. Sadly just no time for the Glastron. I am trying very hard to make some.

Hurricane update.

Nothing can change your plans quite like a Hurricane. Property and parents are finally getting to a manageable point and I was just starting to get some boat time. This whole year has been like this. As soon as I get a little ahead, I fall 10 steps behind.

I just got the boats moved to the new property and brought the donor boat into the work area to start pulling the engine. Then, 5 days Irmaggedon. I got the Mustang and my new boat, 1969 Glastron V-143 into the workshop and boarded up the doors. The Glastron had to stay out uncovered, but made it through fine, just full of sticks and leaves.

I have everything cleaned up at home and hope to start pulling the engine out of the donor boat this weekend. There sure isn't a lot of room to work in this engine compartment.

Thanks Djrowe its way too much like work, but worth it in the end.

Progress! Today I pulled the Chevy 305 from the donor boat. I bought a 2 ton chain hoist and used my new oak tree to do the lifting. Worked great. Pulled the boat out, put the engine in the back of my truck, then down onto a pallet and into the garage! Next step is to pressure wash the bilge, then take out the transom plate and y pipe.
