I now have the cap completely cut free and the windshield removed.

I unscrewed all the rub rail and drilled out several rivets I found around the edges of the cap. The cap was still held down by one layer of chop strand above the transom and around the side shelves on the rear floor. Using a pry bar and a vibratory tool, I cut this and the cap lifted free.

Getting all the screws out of the windshield was challenging but it is now off of the cap. All I have to do is disconnect the fuel filler and fuel line and it should lift right off.

I found some bad spots in the floor and I also found where water was dripping into the transom from a seam in the cap. So I know for sure there is no saving the transom or floor and probably stringers. Not unexpected but going to be a lot of work!

Awesome!! Great work.... mine was tabbed the same way around the splashwell and the edge where the cap and transom meet.

Dont forget to tie the side walls together..so they don't relax during the reconstruction. I screwed 2x4's through rub rail holes to tie them together. Some use straps, some build forms, your boat,up to you.... but the point is to held keep them from spreading.

I am in Orange Park, about a mile south of the mall.

I have been working on getting foam cut out and removing the transom.

I got in a few hours of work on the transom today. I was not sure how I wanted to cut the relief for the pieces to crack off. I thought a chainsaw too dangerous and diamond grinder blades scare me. I took my junky pawnshop router and put in a carbide tip bit. It was fairly easy to control and cut at a consistent depth. Worked out quite well.

I got a lot of material removed. I think I have the entire remaining piece pulled away from the transom. I just need to cut away a bit of the starboard stringer and cut through the rest of the tabbing. I think the whole piece could just pop off.

It looked like I hit a spring when I cut away the tabbing by the lower starboard transom! Totally soaked.

I did find a cool 70's Fritos bag under the forward deck :)

Put in a loooong day today! Cut tabbing and popped the transom right out. Lots of grinding and cutting the rest of the day. Just about ready for some new glass on the transom. Think I am going to add at least 1 layer of heavy woven roving. Transom is thin.

Polyester. Can't afford epoxy. I can get 5 gallons of Dupont laminating resin locally for $100. I used close to 30 gallons on the Mustang.

Everything is ground out. I cut a piece of chop strand and woven roving to cover the transom area for some reinforcement and add a little space for my 2 inch thickness. Went and picked up $88 a sheet 3/4 marine fir plywood. I have the transom templated and I cut the first layer. I am fabbing up the clamp boards and threaded rod then I will layup the fist 3/4 board for the transom.

Transom is done. 3/4 of a sheet of 3/4 inch marine plywood. 3 gallons of resin. 2 lbs of chop strand. 4 yards of chop strand mat. 2 yards of woven roving.

The itching continues. Started cutting open the floor. I found 48 year old pool noodles  They are kinda stinky.

Once the noodles were were out, I put my salvaged fuel tank in the boat. It looks like it should fit neatly under the floor with just some slight modification.

I continued cutting out the floor and got the center stringer uncovered. When the tabbing was cut it popped right out. Completely delaminated.

I had those same foam strips in my Manatee .... But it looked like they used a chopper gun and shot some glass over them to keep them in place ..
Easy demo is always good demo in my book .....

Looking good. Keep up the good work! I love these old boats. They deserve to be restored and on the water!
