I finally got the first coat of Pettit Undercoater on her. Used my HF HVLP spray gun and it went on smooth and easy. Looks like I'm gunna like this stuff. Lakelover pointed out that you can use the Majic hardener in Easypoxy so I am gunna try it when I put on the Easypoxy finish coat. I'll let you know how it turns out. Looks like Wednesday will be my next paint day. Gunna be in the 30's tomorrow here in Oklahoma and then back in the 70's and 80's the rest of the week. Maybe I can get her all Painted by the weekend.

Looking good!

How do you like that HVLP gun??? What kind/size compressor are you using? I 'shot' my paint with a HVLP turbine, but it was a kind of cheap one, and I'm debating what to upgrade to...

I bought a 60 Gallon Sears 5hp two stage compressor. It took some experimenting with the gun settings and pressure settings but once I got that it layed down very nice. For me I had to Open the volume approx. what I felt was 80% and set the regulator on the gun at 35 lbs. Set the Fan at a slight oval and sprayed at about 10" distance. That was for the primer. Worked GREAT!!!! I bought the disposable plastic cups but... It cleaned up good so I will use it again!!!! I will keep you posted when I shoot the Easypoxy finish coat. Like I said I AM gunna put the Hardener in and see how that works.

Good to see you're hard at work.

You're making great progress yourself. Sanding and prepping for paint is NOT my favorite.

Yeah, my B.I.L. said Imron too!! I'm gunna try the EasyPoxy and if she don't work then next year I'll flip her and sand her down and Imron her.

Yeah, I worry about the Selectric Shift but for now she seems to be working just fine. I understand that water getting to the lower unit is the culprit so I spent the time and money to try to ensure that it was sealed really good. We'll see howit goes.

Thanks!

Not sure I understand your question? If you mean what DID I use for the keel, I sanded it down with 40 grit paper and used poly resin and mat to build up the low spots. I then used 3M Marine Filler to Fair it all back to it's original shape and then used 180 grit to sand it smooth. She is now All in Primer.

Well, my wife reminded me that my Grandson is TWO on Saturday so I guess No painting this weekend. She is all prepped and ready to go. Two coats of primer, sanded smooth as a baby's behind. All I'll have to do is tack rag her down and shoot her. Hopefully one evening next week. I'll keep you posted. QUESTION?? Should I keep the Motor Original or Paint it to Match the color scheme of the boat? Sky Blue and White. Opinions???
