Wood, I'm amazed with relatively no sewing experience how well your stitching looks. I'm impressed, and I am a seamstress that's been sewing since I was 10. My mamma taught me to sew my own clothes & even over coats. I moved on to upholstery later in years. Really nice work - You will be very pleased with your project when she's done. Bravo!

Thanks jobless. I appreciate your compliments. I feel bumblefingered at times but I'm getting there. I really enjoy it.

Arch, I have SEEN what you can do with Glass and Paint. This sewing stuff would be a BREEZE for you. Your next boat you MUST do your own.

I made another video on making the arm rests for the fishing Seat. Hope you enjoy!

I'm just sayin...:D

Well I finally finished all the components for one seat. This has really been a learning experience, but an enjoyable one. I hope it has encourage some of you out there to buy an old machine off of CL and attempt to make your own seats. I know I never would have believed I could have done it, but with some of the videos here on iBoats and on YouTube I thought what the heck, I'll give it a shot. Believe me if I can do it You can to.

Here's the final video
Hope you enjoy.

I'm just sayin...:D

Actually these are going to be the "Secondary Seats" that I will use when I want to go fishing. I used them to LEARN how to do this Upholstery stuff. The real seats that I will be constructing will be something like these...

During the Blizzard I finished ALL three of my Fishing seat covers. I purchased an Air Powered Crown Stapler from HF and Stapled the First(worst)of the three onto the frame. Even though it's the worst of the three I think it came out pretty good. Whatcha Think?? They will be used for fishing only. The Bench Seats will be install with Clips so they can be removed and te fishing seats put in on their portable bases..

I have to attach the "Hidem" Gimp strip around the edges to hide the staples and give em a finished look and then I will move on to building the New bench seats. I found these on FiberGlassics and I think I'm gunna go with this pattern.

WOOD,

The seats turned out great.. I like them.. To bad about the weather.. I would tell you about the weather in my neck of the woods .. but wouldnt want to brag.. lol. Its been cold but we are getting some sunshine here and there.. At least no snow like all you are getting.. My project got placed on hold for short period of time. Hoping to get started on the trailer soon. Nice work on yours.. Hope to see more.

Well, I spent another 4 hours filling and sanding on the hull today. All I can say is, it seems like it was a lot easier when I was 30 than it is when I'm 60. Just as an FYI, 49 year old boats have a LOT of scratches and gouges on the bottom of the hull. I am anal enuf that I think I need to fill em all, knowing full well that within on season of use, I will probably have the same amount of scratches right back in there and NO ONE will see them!!! Oh well, I can't seem to help myself. Looks like another 8 to 10 hours of filling and sanding and she'll be ready for the first coat of primer. I hope the weather will cooperate If not the wife will have to park outside for a few days so I can put her in the garage and heat it up so I can paint. I only have about 120 days left before I want to splash her. Lots to get done between now and then.

OH DID I MENTION I HATE FILLING AND SANDING!!

I am the same way- If I know that they are there, they bother me!!

All I can see when I look at the shiny new paint job on my boat is the scratch in it... Grrr.

Luckily, I'm the ONLY one that notices it :)

Re: 1962 Lonestar "Flamingo" - I finally Started w/pics

Another 3 hours of filling and sanding. My 6 yr old Grandaughter is visiting for the weekend and SHE is quite the sander. We had to build a TIRE swing but we did get to work on the boat too. She is VERY interested in Helping PoPo get the boat ready so she can go for a ride!!! Did I mention that I HATE Filling and Sanding??? I THINK I hav the Major gouges and scratches filled. Now going to switch to 180 grit and do a final sanding in prep for the first coat of primer. If the weather holds that MIGHT go on next weekend. Using Pettit easypoxy undercoater. Debating on using my HVLP or Roll and Tip. Any votes for which one I should use?? I'm leaning towards the HVLP, IF I can catch a Calm Cloudy day in the 70's which would allow me to "Shoot" her in the driveway then push her inside to dry. Oklahoma has had a few of those lately so we'll see.
