Well, a Guy can dream. But you know Arch, since I moved to Tulsa, (used to live in Edmond 40 years ago) it really IS calmer over here. A calm day for OKC is 30 mph but here in Tulsa amongst the Trees it really CAN be calm at times.

I would apply it the same way you're going to end up painting the cap. I did my hull first to figure out how to do it and learned from "hideable" mistakes....

And yep...you've mentioned hating sanding and filling lol. :)

I been dealin with my elderly (90 yr old) mom lately. Finally got her squared away in Assisted Living. My First Mate came to visit and wanted to help out with the sanding on the hull. She turned out to be a pretty good helper. I think I need to buy some smaller gloves!!!!

That's one official looking helper you've got! Send her to Owasso if she needs another project. Your project looks like it"s coming along quite well.

I think she looks pretty good for a 49 year old!!! I plan on cleaning her and giving her a fresh coat of Moeller Evinrude GunMetal Gray paint and then she'll look like a NEW one!!!!

Now I REALLY have to get busy and get the Hull painted, trailer blasted and painted, Hull back on the trailer, Bench seats made and upholstered and the EVERYTHING Re-Assembled. Man I got a lot to do in the next 45-60 days. I hope the weather cooperates. I just heard it's gunna be in the 30's tomorrow morning. THAT'S Oklahoma for ya!!!!!

Thanks Arch, Yeah gotta get some pics of the Hull. Shes looking pretty good too! First coat of primer sure made a big difference. She was looking like a pinto pony with all those spots from the filler. But now white as snow. Using Petti EasyPoxy and HVLP. Bought a NEW 60 Gal Compressor. Made a lot of difference from the Old 15 Gallon one. Weather has got to get better so I can finish painting her. Gues I will get started on the Gator Trailer next week.

Looking good! I've got a couple Larks- Mine are older, so they're 35 HP, But more or less the same motor. They're nice!

Using Petti EasyPoxy and HVLP.

Yep, those Larks are great. I remember my first and only water ski experience behind one of those when I was ao but 12. Thought I was gonna die.:D Never tried it again!

I'm going with Easy Poxy too, only roll & tip. Glad to see that somebody else is trying it too after all the negative comments I've seen on here & the poll I did in my thread. Let us know if you follow all the Pettit recommendations or not. I'm toying with the idea of using the Majic catalyst in mine but haven't decided yet.

Not sure that would be good. Easypoxy is a single stage polyurethane paint and rustoleum is a oil based enamel the Majic cat is for the Oil based enamel. You might want to call first. I Really believe the KEY to the Easy poxy is the Prep. I am using their undercoater, and I plan on using MULTIPLE THIN coats with Adequate recommended drying time between each coat. We'll see how it goes. But mine is a Glasser and your's is a Tinner so there will be a difference.

Bears further investigation. From all the descriptions I've read it says: Majic Catalyst Hardener is a special catalystic agent that will accelerate dry time and improve the film properties of most conventional oleoresins, alkyd, or polyurethane coatings.

I have the recommended Pettit 2 part etching primer for the bare aluminum and and the recommended undercoat primer for painting over scuffed paint. If I decide against the Majic, it will be interesting to compare notes after we both have finished going by the letter.

WOW!!! Did NOT realize it was good for poly coatings too!!!! Well heck fire... I'm gunna prolly give it a go on mine too!!! It can only fail and fall off:eek: If it does, I would sand it ALL off and shoot it with Car Paint like I probably should this time:p
