I with you Arch. Something is not quite right. What if you ditch the ladder or at least shorten it and reduce the distance the platform extends off the back of the boat. Keep the width just make it shorter.

It depends on how oten it will be used but why not a rope stowable ladder? It can hook to a cleat I dont have a pic of the one on my boat but it a had a mount on the inside gunwale It was a plastic block with a lip on the bottom you just looped the ladder around the block. Although a pad of some sort on the rope would be needed to protect the top of the gunwale.

I'm not sure I would be all that happy with the rope ladder. I did think about cutting the one I have (thanks to Last Mohican, it was one he had laying around and sent it to me), but its already pretty short. Has anyone ever used one of those removable dive ladders?

One other thing to throw in, I was planning on putting the built in fuel tank on the port side, opposite the driver. That seemed to make since, I weigh 210 and usually drive....and I figure a full tank would make a nice counter blast if I'm the only one in it. I don't want the ladder on the port side, having the tank and someone boarding on the same side sounds like a good way to swamp a boat with 8" of free-board! I was planning on moving the ladder to starboard, but last night I realized that you will have to crawl over the engine controls on that side....I can also see someone using the marker lamp for a hand hold! Maybe I'm thinking too much about it!

That looks like the way to go. You'll ruin your paint job in a hurry with any of those removable ladders.

Just came across this site. I have been looking everywhere for stainless detent pins, finally found them. These guys have a lot of other cool odd ball hardware. Might be a good source for anyone looking for odd ball hardware. http://www.mcmaster.com/#pins/=c45x3r

Hadn't thought about scratching the paint, but I was wondering where I would store a removable one.....I don't exactly have tons of storage.

I got the LED's installed under the gunnels today. I ran out, but what I put in works really nicely. They are really bright even in daylight. I'll post some pics of them after the sun goes down.

Here are some shots of the LEDs, awsome product, other than standing on my head to install them, they are great! Here are the little zip tie tabs I used to install them...I'm a little skeptical about the double sided tape in the heat, but I guess we will find out huh?

Here is a shot up under the helm, not as neat as I would like it to be....forgot how many wires there are up under there!

Here is a shaky pic of the leds on

That is exactly what I was thinking about with a heat, but like you said, we will find out. I love the look of those lights. Super pimp!

Thanks, I'm not sure I was going for "pimp" Jay, lol! Actually I am hardly ever out at night, but they will be handy if I am.

Looks good Arch. Buddy of mine is putting these in his boat. We used them on a three dimensional outdoor sign about a year ago. They are holding up great. They are 12VDC and waterproof. Cool thing is the color change feature.

Arch, When I was working in motor controls we used those double stick pads in control cabinets. They did not hold up well in heat. We switched to using the same type pads with no double stick tape and epoxy to hold them in place. That held up much better. You might also try 3M emblem tape. It holds up pretty well in heat. It is what most OEM auto emblems are held on with.

Cool to see em in action. I ordered some a few days ago for my boat Just before I saw you were gonna put em in. So I am glad to see how they might look since My boat is no where near ready for em. I got the color changing ones but they are 6 tubes that plug in seperately into a controller.

Ok I delivered the old section of dock walkway that I had this morning, which freed up some cash for the boat. I worked up the mock up of the swim platform this afternoon, but I'm not happy with it....maybe its just the shape, but it feels kind of clunky.....I have also toyed with the idea of getting rid of the platform and just having a ladder....naturally nothing fits so I will have to build that....maybe I'm being too pessimistic, what do you guys think?

I'm going to sleep on it and see what I think about it in the am. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I like the layout. My 2 cents would be to eliminate the hard angles and round everything to match the "sleek" look of your boat. And router the outside edges of everything for that tapered look. Nice job on that mock up brother.

Thanks PSI, guess I should have mentioned it, but I was planning on rounding off all the edges.....just didn't do it on the mock up. My friend David K came by tonight and gave me his two cents worth....I think I'm going to build one of the platforms.....i have the wood and its non-returnable / paid for. After sleeping on it I'm feeling better about it. I'm going to fiddle around with the mock up some more, then build the teak platform for one side and re-access.
