Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore- SPLASHED!!
I went by the local box store and picked up some cardboard sheets today....then spent the afternoon "building" a fuel tank. Here is what I came up with, pretty close to what I had priced to have built.
The mock up holds about 14 gallons, but I may end up making it a little smaller. Here is how it fit in the boat.
Right now the question is how to mount it without drilling a bunch of holes in the deck. The best idea i have come up with is epoxying a 2"x2" fiberglass "washer" to the deck, with a stainless carriage bolt embedded in it upside down. That would give me a stud to bolt the flanges on the floor too. On the back side I can just screw the mounting flange to the seacast transom. I have the same issue with the battery, last year it just bounced around in the floor in a battery box. I would also like to build a cover to put over the tank and battery, one more thing to attach to something! I'm open to suggestions.....there has to be a good way to do this!
