well I guess the boat was advertised as free with the purchase of the trailer......I really think it should have been more like free fiberglass huh with purchase of trailer frame, lol.

Thanks Rick, yours is moving along really nicely! Well it was a fun week at work, not much time to think about Miss Morgan, much less work on her! The water pump kit did come in. It was only a few bucks more for the whole assembly, so figured why not get it all?

I'm going to work on making some templates for the swim platforms tomorrow, and doing some precise measurements on the tank so I can get it ordered. I'll probably end up cranking out some CAD drawings for it to be built off of. The warmer weather has me looking forward to summer!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your swim platform. I think you should consider "CASTING" a fiberglass platform. Your creative skills at their best!!!!!

I've thought about that Wood, but I think the teak is more in keeping with the style of the boat.

By the way, has anyone seen stainless steel hitch pins? I need some 1/4" ones for my ski pole....it came with zinc plated ones, go figure.

the type I'm talking about have a spring loaded retaining "ball" on one end and a circle made out of wire to pull it out with on the other end.....I did find the hitch pins at fastenall, might be an alternative....I also found a clevis at jamestown that might work with the pin you found....I just hate having to many pieces to drop in the lake!

I went by the local box store and picked up some cardboard sheets today....then spent the afternoon "building" a fuel tank. Here is what I came up with, pretty close to what I had priced to have built.

The mock up holds about 14 gallons, but I may end up making it a little smaller. Here is how it fit in the boat.

Right now the question is how to mount it without drilling a bunch of holes in the deck. The best idea i have come up with is epoxying a 2"x2" fiberglass "washer" to the deck, with a stainless carriage bolt embedded in it upside down. That would give me a stud to bolt the flanges on the floor too. On the back side I can just screw the mounting flange to the seacast transom. I have the same issue with the battery, last year it just bounced around in the floor in a battery box. I would also like to build a cover to put over the tank and battery, one more thing to attach to something! I'm open to suggestions.....there has to be a good way to do this!:D

The way I mounted my hot foot was by cutting a piece of ply just big enough to mount the hot foot. I installed T nuts in this piece and then glassed it to the deck. It is a good solid mount with no penetrations to the deck. So far it has held up to a full season of heavy footed jet boating with no issues.

I've thought about the plywood idea..but with carriage bolts. I hadn't thought of the t-nuts, but I think I still have some from when I was building the seats. I used them to attach the controls to the side of the drivers seat. Thanks for the idea! I'll keep kicking things around and see where I end up.

Are you opposed to Strapping it in? The battery too! I'd make a burgundy Vinyl drop curtain to hide it all. Some Rare earth magnets would hold it all in place

I'm planning on probably using some straps, but I still need a hard point on the deck to attach them. I toyed with the idea of the curtain, but I think I will be happier with a fixed panel. I still have some carpet and marine plywood left for that.

Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore- SPLASHED!!

I have been side tracked at the lake the last couple of weekends.....filling dirt behind the sea wall we built....I'm ready to get back to the boat, but I need to get this thing wrapped up too. It is amazing how hard it is to get people to show up to work in rural eastern OK......but I suspect that is normal anywhere around a lake, seems like everyone is on "lake time". Here are some progress shots from the last two weekends. Hopefully next weekend I will get some time on Miss Morgan.

It may not look like it, but I am up to 80 tandem axle truck loads of dirt! I figure 30 or so more to go and I should have a pad for a house.

Looks like good progress. Lake looks low. How far down is it? Looks like ours around here. We need some rain.

Its down about 5' or about 7' from summer time levels.....they keep it a few feet higher in the summer....and we could use some rain!

I just wanted to stop by and say high. That lake looks low just like our are. If we do not get some rain we will not be doing much boating this year.
