Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Pics finally sync'd from the phone. Nice and clean step pads. Lower motor mount bolts passed through edge of transom tray. Here's a shot of the spacers I made up to side on the top lip, keeping the transom bolt and washer properly aligned. More aluminum spacers were made up to shim the motor...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

More progress made last couple evenings: 1.) Step pads from a couple posts ago are now installed just forward of the windscreen. 2.) Yamaha F60 hung back on the transom, after a 6 month hiatus on the engine stand. I buttered in the inside surfaces of the holes, as well as the bolts and...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

On my Aluminum Goods hull, similar to the SS16, the longitudinal stringers had formed c-channel profiles riveted between the stringers at every four foot increment to support the decking. Those would provide stability for your temporary sheet, and support the deck nicely in the final assembly...

    New Journey

Looking good! Did you get the kids to sign and date it first, to make a 'time capsule' to surprise the restoration crew starting in 2070?

    Starcraft Rub Rail

Does the SS16 have one continuous rub-rail all the way around the bow, or is it in two pieces with a nose casting covering the seam? My Alum Goods hull uses a continuous piece all the way around, which I'm imagining is going to be a real pain to install.

    Starcraft Rub Rail

Hey, I recognize that cardboard box in the pic! I'm very interested in rubrail restoration/replacement options as well. The rubber inserts in those ~ 5 ft long rubrails down the side of the hull were in tough shape, and there was a damaged section in the top gunnel rubrail as well. I've seen...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Not sure of the brand. It's definitely fait en Chine. I'd give those terminals a wiggle before installation. Two of mine popped with very light touch. The other, well, I might have been a bit ham-fisted with the removal of the pre-wired section.

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Some wiring done, switch panel mount sorted out. Found out the ebay switch panel isn't great quality. A few of the male spade connectors on the back of the switches popped right off when I went to re-wire them. That required switch disassembly, and careful soldering of the backside of the...

Waterproof seal on Nautolex clad surfaces

Yeah, the squeeze-out could be pretty messy the Goop under the windscreen.

Waterproof seal on Nautolex clad surfaces

Seems different to me. Here's the MSDS:

Waterproof seal on Nautolex clad surfaces

Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if that butyl tape could be heated prior to application, to allow it to flow a bit more into those voids in the vinyl. Also, did you ever try that Goop? I gooped some onto a test piece of the Nautolex, and it seemed to bond very well. I can't speak to...

    Bow cover for SuperSport

@roscoe - interesting the similarities to the pop-up trailer trim. You're right, it's probably a std profile used in a variety of applications. Given the nice roll-over lip, I was thinking it was intended to allow a cover to somehow attach to it, but I'm not hearing anyone confirming this, so...

    Bow cover for SuperSport

It could be modified, as it's not in bad shape currently. It is heavier canvas, rather than the high-tech Sunbrella and similar materials. I prefer the latter, as they fold up and store a bit smaller. Still undecided at this point. Need to get wiring done, and Yamaha back on and rigged first.

    Bow cover for SuperSport

My existing cover will not fit over the taller windscreen without significant modifications. I have a bunch of marine top fabric and supplies left over from when I made tops for a Tempest bowrider we owned briefly, and learned just enough to be dangerous on the thread injection machine. And...

    Bow cover for SuperSport

Not sure. I'm a bit torn at this point. Thinking separate bow cover and main deck cover to start, and for longer term storage perhaps a one-piece cover that could be popped on, perhaps over the sides as you mention, although the bow railing is a hassle in that regard. Bow cover is nice to...

    Bow cover for SuperSport

I'm reviving an Alum Goods Corp 16 foot bowrider, very similar to the SS16. The bow area has an aluminum trim extrusion with a rolled lip on it that looks like it could have been used to affix some type of bow cover. The same profile is actually used for the entire main cockpit area as well...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Do you have an air riveter? I got one of those for this project, and I went from hating pop rivets to loving them! I do know what you mean about the vacuuming though. Seems even with the constant cleaning, I'm still tracking shiny bits of aluminum back in the house. Hang in there though. Any...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

It is closer to being aligned with the side panels than I thought. Should be pretty straight-forward to implement something similar. I have plans to eventually trim that out somehow, likely incorporating the fusebox/busbar mount.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

My consoles have an aluminum return riveted to the inboard side, extending aft around 4". If you did something similar, it would give a mounting surface for your extended side panel, and would close off that transition a bit. That's assuming you can 'twist' that side panel enough to end up...
