    The cowl on my Merc 20hp (0C263922) is very tired. Does the newer style cowl fit the older motors? To be clear, the first pic is the style I have currently (stock pic, mine's way worse condition!), and the second is the style I found from a local FB Marketplace seller.

    Model # 2802R I didn't replace capacitor, but all ignition components look like brand new, so I'm thinking previous owner tried to get it running properly with the 'Goofy Rag' causing unknown issues. I did put new impeller on before use last summer. Will check over other items mentioned. Thanks!

    I've been looking around for the port side 'Aluminum Goods Corp' version since we got the boat, with no luck. I'm still hoping to find an original aluminum casting. Failing that, as @ShoestringMariner says, 3D printing is an option.

    You're making great progress. That's a crazy number of rivets to replace. I did less than a dozen on my hull. Do you have a warm spot to work? That Gluvit likes warm aluminum to flow properly.

    If the pit is small in diameter but deep, you might be able to just drill it open and buck a rivet in there, rather than patching?

    When you do a leak test of the hull, tilt the hull so that area gets submerged, and inspect well from the outside. That will expose any issues.

    With a good cleaning and bright light you should be able to see if it's actually a crack. If it is a crack, surely it would go all the way to the inside, so clean that area as well. I would expect cracks to normally propagate from stress points like rivet locations. Yours looks like it avoids...

    Looks great! I searched for that pleated vinyl from my local suppliers, and couldn't find anything suitable. Yours looks like a perfect match. Glad to hear you had a successful season. It's always nice to enjoy the fruits of that labour.
