20 hp Cowl Interchange?

The cowl on my Merc 20hp (0C263922) is very tired. Does the newer style cowl fit the older motors? To be clear, the first pic is the style I have currently (stock pic, mine's way worse condition!), and the second is the style I found from a local FB Marketplace seller.

You could paint it with Phantom Black paint and re-decal it

That was my original plan, but I could get this replacement for the cost of the decals, and was thinking it might give a more modern look to old faithful.
