Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

I would say it depends on your boat. how high are your gunwhales. I think my bench seat is about 12 inches tall. how tall is your overall bench gonna be

    Re-decking question

cleats are screwed on the top of the stringers. The deck then gets screwed to the cleats. I used 2x2 along the stringers. Once the deck is off, it will be good to inspect the stringers of rot. If the deck is bad, so are the stringers. Moisture goes from bottom up

    1990 vs 1992 4.3 block swap

OMG. I checked just out of a hunch if it may be an exhaust leak. 3 bolts were out and the others rather loose. Both sides. I have no idea why. I did torque them correctly. The gasket is the thick one. Maybe it settled and warm and hot worked it loose. It runs again just fine. I guess that...

    1990 vs 1992 4.3 block swap

Oh, it got bad today. Definitely something wrong. I think I smell unburnt fuel. I can hear it now in the upper rpm range. Sometimes coming off plane it is gone for a couple seconds. I don't think it's a push rod. Maybe an exhaust leak? But I tend to go with lifter. Know more by compression...

    1990 vs 1992 4.3 block swap

i have a slight tick at idle. Once i get to high idle around 1500 rpm it stops. Is this a lifter tick? I guess. how to figure it out and is there a fix? Once i have been on 2-3000 rpm it seems to be gone or not as apparent. Any down side leaving it. It does have good power and haven't noticed...

    1991 glastron 1900 hull

I'm afraid you have a water logged boat, again. unless you had drains in between the bulkheads.

Prop diameter effect and planing trouble

that is true. I had spark plug wires crossed once so it ran on only 4. I was barely able to ski behind it.

    Leaking Fuel Sender

Ok, I have noticed a bit of fuel leaking through the center stud of the fuel sender on my I/O tank. (The round one with 5 holes and a center stud and a arm that pivots) It happens when I fill up almost 90% full and as everyone knows, when you are pulling tubes or skiers, the boat is always very...

    E15 Gas experience

Anybody have experience with E15 gas? I often get gas on the way to the lake and was not too worried about the E10 being in 87 octane fuel. I wonder, will this be another option to purchase at the pump or will it replace the current E10 that's available. I have an older 90's 2bbl carb on my 4.3...

    DIY Marine upholstery and covers?

i used a 90 year old singer. metal gears and direct drive motor. (they made them with a belt too). I tried the singer 4420 or so heavy duty that did not work because the timing slipped. I used the old singer for all my upholstery and even used it for a canvas cover. I put a teflon foot on it...

Sea Ray 180 sig series termite/water in ski locker rot

you can also see my rebuild. my ski locker would not drain because the manufacturer foamed the cavity underneath. i since have made a separate pipe that goes directly to the bilge. the ski locker does have another board for a flat bottom

21 Champion Bay Champ Soft Spots

about everybody with a 20+ year old boat probably experienced this. Read the stickies. Boats rot from the bottom up, so you will be in for a floor, stringer, transom rebuild

    Should I install Fuel/Water Separator?

I didn't have one on my 90's 4.3 originally either. Added one and have no problems. I change it once a year. I also changed the filter in the pump. The spin on filter will take everything out since the one in the pump is rather small.
