Quicksilver grease - trailer and u-joints

Ok. I should have maybe read up on it a bit sooner. When I rebuild my trailer bearings and my u-joints I used the quicksilver extreme with ptfe in it. It states its ok to use for it. Now here i see many saying it's bad because bearings might slip. So I used it for about 3 years. Should I...

    Gimbal Bearing Cheap

I found out that a lot of times the ring has the hole for grease but the bearings are sealed. You can find out if you take the bearing out of the ring

When to change the steering cable

That's my concern too. I don't want it too easy. Maybe that is why they have the non feed back cables steering. Since I don't have anything to compare it to, I just have to make a best guess. Most people buy used boats like me but don't know how it should feel when new. I do not have to use two...

When to change the steering cable

there is a little bit of slop in the steering wheel. No rust on the rod that comes out from the cable. I just wondered. Do these system even run that easy that you can spin the wheel with one finger? I just don't want to change out parts and have the same results.

When to change the steering cable

Ok, stupid question. I see some videos where they use one finger to move the steering wheel. I have an I/O Alpha Gen 1 (1990) with power steering. I know my hydraulics are good. That was overhauled 4 years ago with a new pump and also the actuator got looked over with no leaks. However, how do I...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

I'd agree on the bearing quality. I would be afraid they explode at 60mph. Anything other than a china stamp. I had them apart about 4 years ago and they looked good. running quicksilver grease in them which helps with water intrusion/mixing. I think the seal is about due to be replaced since...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

General question. How often do you take the wheel hub off and inspect bearings and refill with new grease? I assume it depends on salt water, distance towed, how often it goes in the water, bearing buddies/ez-lube system?

    Lifespan of airhead tubes

Ah, good to know. guess what, I did all of the above. So I'm gonna be preparing to have to get another one. been doing this for 4 years now and it came with the boat. So not sure how old it really is. I knew rubber parts gas out and loose their flexibility. The good thing is they aren't too...

    Lifespan of airhead tubes

thanks. wondered on the inner tube because of the folding and creases the tube gets stress points and eventually leaks there.

    Lifespan of airhead tubes

Anybody know how long they last? Since we fold them and store them in the locker and do this a couple times a year and in the winter gets left in the locker covered up. Anybody have theirs for 5+ years, 10+ maybe?

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

can't speak for him, but to answer my side: I probably won't do it again. very time consuming and dirty. We are not getting any younger either. I'm not a quitter and once started, you just have to finish. I can't stand money being wasted on half finished projects. Prices have gone up...
