Proper engine mounting height.
Correct prop pitch.
Correct size motor for the boat.
Why did he buy a boat that doesn’t plane?
Or did it just start happening?
If so, something has changed.
Does it have a coast guard capacity plate?
Oh yeah, its been modified a bit.
You definitely NEED a new steering cable. That one is a disaster waiting to happen. Thats a lot of HP to be flopping around back there with no steering.
Also, those 4 screen door pull handles for tie down anchor...
Pretty sure you don't have Sure Lube hubs.
Sure Lube hubs have the zerk on the outside, AND the old grease is expelled thru the outside of the hub alongside of the spindle.
You may have Super lube, or EZ lube, redi lube, spindle lube, or ? hubs.
Or it means that trying to type several paragraphs of instructions, will likely result in something missed, or misunderstood.
If you have 2 manuals, why are you asking how to do it ?
Anyone working on these motors and performing more than simple tasks, should have a manual. I've got a shelf...
I have found that tilting the motor all the way up makes it a little easier to install gearcase. A little easier to lift/support/ slide, and a little easier to see that all is aligned properly as you install.
Bunk trailer or scissors ?
Just guessing but ... was the water level low last fall when you pulled the boat? Could easily have affected how the boat settled into the trailer as you pulled it up the ramp.
May have to back it in deeper to launch.
Or not so deep and pull it off with another boat.
Anecdotal evidence from NY, SC,FL,MI, CO, ND, etc., is all useless.
He is in IL.
IL is a stickler for paperwork. One of the worst in the country.
Glad you found a trailer.
