I would take the insurance money and buy a new trailer

Used ones are very scarce in most areas !! If you can swing it, take the ins money and add some to it and go for a new one !! Otherwise be prepared to shop long and hard and be prepared to drive a long distance.

And if you find one at a private sale chances are 50/50 it doesn't have a title.

Check your state, here in Ohio, no title is required for a trailer, only motorized vehicles......now if you out a motor on your trailer...???
We use registration papers for utility and boat trailers, and each time the trailer is transfered to a new owner, they are supposed to be weighed....the cost of plates are based on trailer weight. As many times as I have been stopped with my trailer, no one has ever checked on it !! Just ask if that is my trailer.....
