Lag Bolt Hole Striped (Engine Mount To Hull)

If you do cut the top of the mount box off, you can dig out all the nastiness, clean, then fill with Seacast. All you do is cover the SeaCast with a layer or two of glass and you’re good to go. SeaCast is a little pricey, but you can do both boxes, and it’s a permanent rot proof repair.

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Yep, I agree with @Scott06 I tend to keep my bilge blower on all the time while I’m running, because I tend to forget to turn it on when I slow. The bilge vents will move more air than the blower when under way.....at least in my boat. Sure wish those pics would come through. I’m really...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Ha ha!!! I think we’ve all spilled and had to scoop up by hand. The disposable piping bags are so much better for this. They are about as thick as freezer bags, and the proper shape. They are very cheap! ;)

If you CSM the back of the transom plywood, then PB without hair is what you do in my opinion. You’re using it to glue the core to the hull, and there’s no better glue. You’re tabbing and glassing it in anyway. Hairy PB you’ll want to use as a filler, such as fillets and bedding. Hope that makes...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I agree. Although it doesn’t look too bad, the dark chips mean it’s been wet. It’s best to take it out now, and install new, better than factory.

Lag Bolt Hole Striped (Engine Mount To Hull)

Just keep in mind that the epoxy is super hard when cured and may be impossible to thread a lag bolt into. You may actually snap the lag bolt in the hole greatly complicating things. This was the reason a dowel rod was suggested. You may be able to use a hack saw and cut across the threads on...

I should have told the wife I needed a mini-ex instead of building the gantry. Dang it , too late now,

It looks very nice. Just a bit of a learning curve trying to navigate for now. I haven’t tried to post any pictures yet, but it works well otherwise with my iPhone.

So to answer some of your questions in order- 1.It may make things easier to drill and fill before the wood is mounted since it’s laying flat. Thickened resin will wreck a jigsaw blade, so cut the keyhole first. 2. Yes, but no need to use 1708. CSM is fine. 3. layer of CSM on the wood if poly...

Are the sidewalls you’re mentioning part of the cap of the boat? Normally it is and would require removing the cap. If you can do all the work without removing the cap it would be much better in the long run. Just my opinion.

    Rochester Quadrajet Rebuild and Adjustments

Got the OEM Quadra-Jet bolted back onto the manifold and hooked up. Took a bit of cranking to fill the bowl, but once fuel was there, she fired right up. So far on muffs the engine idles perfect, and there is absolutely no hesitation or stumble in any throttle range. I can watch the secondary...

    Rochester Quadrajet Rebuild and Adjustments

Install all the linkages previously disconnected. Attach the choke rod to the choke door linkage and install the clip. Install the rod connecting the pull-off valve to the secondary air door. Put the rod through the stem of the pull-off first, then into the air door linkage by slowly...

    Rochester Quadrajet Rebuild and Adjustments

Place the secondary rods onto the hanger and install the hanger onto the steel cam. Secure with the single screw in the center of the hanger. Once attached, turn the air door linkage a few times to ensure there’s no binding. The doors should open and return smoothly. There are numerous...

That 3M VHB Tape is really good stuff, and based on the price......3M is aware how good it is. I like the video and actually never really thought of doing it that way. I use it at work a good bit, and seems most cars have body panels installed, or at least ground effects, with it. I wonder if...

    Rochester Quadrajet Rebuild and Adjustments

Since the vacuum pump is already out, the choke pull-off should also be tested. If you find the choke pull-off to be defective, it’s imperative you get the right one to replace it. Don’t just buy a generic pull-off. Find a reputable company that will match the pull-off to your application...

    Rochester Quadrajet Rebuild and Adjustments

Now that we’ve gotten the three main parts of the carburetor bolted back together we are at a point where it’s a good idea to ensure the needle and seat in the fuel valve are working properly. This was a step I learned in the Cliff Ruggles book, and honestly never have performed, even though in...
