what to use to line ski locker

Mine's bare from the factory. I only store oars, spare bumpers, and a fishing net most of the time in there so I really don't have a need for anything else. From time to time the kids kickboards (foam) may be in there but again, nothing that's going to cause any kind of damage. My anchors, yes...

    HI! New Here!

14' and cabin? That's going to be a mighty small cabin on an already small boat. I rented a 14' fishing boat once, that landed me my Bayliner in my signature. IF it were me, I'd be looking at the 16' and up aluminum fishing boats and add a full camper top to it. Much more versatile and probably...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Bolt it asap. When it starts, it'll probably shake, rattle, roll a bit and if all that's holding it to the stand is gravity and those two little fingers on the motor mount, you may find yourself with an "Oh Carp" moment with a running engine sitting sideways on your driveway. That would be a...

    Scratched brand new boat

It's officially christened. Looks like it would rub out.

Boating with small children ( Toddlers ) Best Life Vest.

My best advice is...a life jacket that is comfortable and fits. All bets are off if #1 isn't met. Btdt....made it all of 100' from the dock before having to turn around. Nothing like a fussy, overheated, uncomfortable kiddo to cut a boating trip short. We've found the neoprene (or similar) ones...

Brand New Boat Owner- Prop Question

I'd run it as is and get it repaired if/when you hit something. We all hit something with a prop at some point...sunken logs, rock piles just below the surface, etc. Some hits are avoidable, others come out of no where. In a nutshell pitch is related to the theoretical distance it will travel...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

In case the first one dies. Good to have a backup. Only if you're fishing....and even then, it is optional. Oars, anchors, etc can get you moved or let you sit in one spot. Choice is how much effort is used when the bite dies in your current spot.

    Hybrid Vehicles

And here I'm thinking my wife's '17 Honda Accord 2.4L CVT got 42mpg in my normal commute. No fancy hybrid needed.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

One is fine for main motor and accessories as noted above. You'll want a 2nd if you add: (1) Big Thumpin Stereo w/amps OR (2) Trolling Motor. My current boat has (2) - one main, one for the trolling motor. Both are on a onboard charger so I can top the batteries off as needed. Charger has a...

    2024 NFL/CFB News and Nonsense

If anyone can control a diva, Tomlin can and has the track record to prove it. What's up for debate is whether Wilson is still any good. Going off the debacle and reports coming out of Denver....may not be. Time will tell. Going off what's been reported...what's a league vet minimum to find...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I don't see your bilge drain plug in any of those pics. Methinks you have a ways to go yet to get to the true bottom of your hull. Water oozing is a sure sign you have to dig further yet.

Just a reminder that summer will be here soon...

My dad did that with Mom's Chevelle. Got towed out by a farmer on his tractor. Once thawed out in the local mechanic's garage, ran flawlessly till he sold it.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

What they're saying is.... Home Depot for all you lumber cost, for example, $500. That's the total cost of your project. Regardless if you... Had to use a tank and a half to get back and forth several times. Had a $500 Harbor Freight bill for tools and other incidentals. So even though your...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

It'll flex a little. I only mentioned it as it appeared to droop more once the side supports were removed. Might be camera angle but something if it were me I'd be looking at.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Only a suggestion, can take it or leave it.... It appears that your bow is bowing down from the weight of the windshield/steering wheel. Any way to temporarily clamp some support underneath it to help get it back to shape? Would think a 1x4 or 2x4 would be sufficient.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

On the subject of old gas....got a burn pile? Can start a fire and dispose of it that way. I've been known to use expired signal flares to do the same to save from stockpiling them in my basement. Plenty of ways to get rid of it - from proper disposal to starting bonfires. **Passes a bag of...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

They (meaning almost any sporting goods store) used to sell glorified 5 gallon buckets complete with a seat and other amenities. Probably still around for the hunters to utilize.

    Console and bimini install

I'd remove the teak, then talk with a welder to add brackets you could bolt the console to. IF it were me, I'd use long angle brackets welded to the "hull" the length of the console to help distribute the load from the console & top. I don't like the idea of drilling through the "hull" as I see...

Peeing off the back of a boat isn't an option? Then again I have boys :) My cousin kept a bucket on his fishing boat for his two girls to use when they needed a potty break.

Bought a Used Boat, but what is it?

My first boat I bought, '99 Bayliner came with a 120 HP Force (By Mercury) 2 stroke. What a royal, royal pita to get to start or run correctly. Went through the correct break in process and subsequent adjustments from the marina. Never, ever would start right. Replaced it with a Honda one year...
