    Hull ID #

Probably on that plate...before it was obliterated. Probably to the left of you engine or drive numbers. Looks like there's a "12" to the left...happen to match what the DMV pointed out to you?

    Carpet replacement

Sounds like it has some sort of pad attached to it. Not sure I'd use that over indoor/outdoor carpet available at any big box home improvement store.

    Downsize Fuel Tank

Based on the pics I'm finding online, and granted you have a better idea than I being right there, I'm betting that the casting platform covering the gas tank is gonna have to come out. It doesn't appear that there's enough space to wiggle the tank out even after removing the batts. Then you...

Newbie question: how do boating fees work at IN state parks?

My line of thinking, and it may be totally wrong so confirm it, is that the slip fee is only if you are using one of their docks to leave the boat in the water for an extended period of time....not for simply launch/retrieve. At least that's the way it works in NY state parks...fee to enter...

Hour meter not reading Faria Tach - Hour meter gage

Can check the connections but I'd wager they probably got water inside the gauge which shorted it and its toast. If that's indeed the case, just replace it and if it really, really bugs ya, put a label on the meter including how many hours to add to the current reading. I wouldn't get too bent...

    Question about water in bilge

I wouldn't add water to a boat to see where it leaks. Launch it on a non-busy day...which are going to be harder to come by as the season progresses....and as mentioned above check for water intrusion. Then start, run and check again. It's coming from somewhere be it bellows related, cooling...

    My next table project

Just spitballin here...but some black walnut would look nice to edge it. This based off some of the darker wood grain in some of the planks.

    Best hitch protector?

Well if we're going for extremes... Park the rig, get an excavator, dig a moat around the rig, fill with water & gators, then surround that with razor wire. Seems like we've taken the fun out of boating and made it into a job...which is not why I launch my boat in the first place. To each...

Thinner for bottom paint, what to use??

Check the MSDS on the Interlux thinner. It will break out the components in general. That might lead you to what to use beyond their recommended thinner...but I'm not so sure straying from the recommended is the right approach. Could do a test and see...in an outdoor setting...with hose/fire...

New issue cropped up on my transom/bunk position!

Get ahold of Lund, they're still in business, and see what they say. My hunch is they're going to tell you to slide the bunks in an inch or two because that's where the floor stringers are - I'm going off the rivets in the transom. I'd also question the white goop on the transom near the drain...

    Best hitch protector?

Western New York...same state as OP. And I don't have anywhere near the paranoia. My tow rig is in my signature. There's taking reasonable precautions, like using a padlock on the coupler (if applicable). In all my years of boating, and that's since the early 80's, I've NEVER, EVER seen anyone...

    1986 Astroglass 151B restoration

Exterior grade plywood will suffice for the transom AND stringers. Don't get the treated ply as more often than not its dripping wet with the preservative they inject into it so you have to wait for it to dry out before you can glass it. All the wood should be sealed with glass & resin prior to...

    Best hitch protector?

So do I...WNY here. I launch at state parks which are DEC patrolled. I venture up into 1000 Islands and do the same there. Have yet to hear of anyone losing a trailer to theft. BTW: You sure you want to put a lock on that prop? Cause replacing a lower unit due to a thief hammering off that...

    Best hitch protector?

A locksmith carries different shank keyed brass locks. I went that route when I secured my spare tire on my '95 Pathfinder to the swing out wheel rack. All it takes for those wheel locks is a good quality impact socket. Hammer it on and the wheel lock is coming off. I had a set that a wheel...
