If you decide to have a welder shorten your ratchet mount...allow room for the
ratchet lever to rotate and tighten ..my lever is in the 8 o'clock position when tight..:D

When I laid the antenna in the down position the teeth of the SS antenna mount
did not line up with each other ..if I lined up the teeth and tightened the ratchet
the antenna would be suspended in the air...

Went to Shakespeare's web site...their instructions say to have the antenna AT LEAST 3ft away from the radio...
