Ok now I gotta go to the dollar store, get a couple cutting boards (1 each wood and poly) and try to invent something with them. I'am feeling useless here.

Hey man... just getting caught back up some here... polishing came out wicked! Awesome job... love the starch white shirt and coal miner's face.... just one of those occupational drawbacks I suppose! :)

Keep up the great work...

Thanks guys for the comments! I got my trailer bunks finished and will tackle my roller issue tomorrow. Unfortunately I have not had time to get it to the welder which means no paint this weekend.....ohwell we move forward.

Re: You Guys Inspired Me!!!!

My afternoon opened up so I got in Redneck mode and loaded up the SS on one of my flat bed trailers and hauled it to the welder. He almost got it done before the wind started blowing and had to stop, said he would finish in the morning. I had to share this picture.........I got some funny looks on the road  I actually have a bigger trailer it would fit on but wanted him to be able to access underneath to weld both sides.....

Got her back from the welder today,,structurally I believe they did awesome. Cosmetically is a little different situation:mad: I already blocked it down quite a bit and think I can make it look alright. Little more sanding and I will polish up the mess. Also slide her onto her new home.

BTW I think the welding looks pretty stout and is kinda of a cool old scar now.

That my fellow polisher is what they call a "character line". Nothing that a little touch-up sand and polish won't tidy up!

It looks like a solid weld job tho...

Re: You Guys Inspired Me!!!!

Beautiful weather in SoCal today! So I figured before I dive into the next phase of things I needed to reorganize the garage its amazing how fast it can get blown up when you are focused on the project.

I did sand and polish up the "Scar" and then I started polishing up the side trim, I want it polished before I paint next weekend so the buffer is not running against new paint. The trim has a coating on it that has to be sanded of before you can polish it, but once you get the coating off you can polish a whole side in about 5 minutes, in my opinion it is very worth it, it's going to really pop the color with the polished trim. The pictures show the trim with the rubber pulled out.

Question for you guys.....am I reading other post correctly??? before the floor goes down you are sealing the inside with Gluvite???? Also has anyone sprayed in a coating like Durabak over the secured plywood floor???

Don't forget mothers day boy's, Unless you are InMotion you better hold off on boat work tomorrow.:)

I started polishing up the side trim, I want it polished before I paint next weekend so the buffer is not running against new paint. The trim has a coating on it that has to be sanded of before you can polish it,:)

The andodizing or clear coat may be what your referring to:

Before the floor goes down you are sealing the inside with Gluvite???? Also has anyone sprayed in a coating like Durabak over the secured plywood floor???

GluVit or Coat-It is applied to the inside of the hull on the rivets & seams. AFTER a water leak test & repair of any leaking rivets. It's a preventative to decrease the likelihood of having a leak below decks once you're done w/ the rehab....

Durabak can be sprayed according to their info, but I don't recall seeing/reading about anyone doing it, yet..

Several glass rebuilds have used it VERY successfully:

You should be able to click the carot " next to Mike's user name to go to his thread..........

Sleeper-6 also did a great job w/ the Durabak: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine
