My friend is a family practice doctor. He had a patient come in who was worried about his cholesterol. My friend told him that the pack of Marlboros in his shirt pocket was around 100 times worse that what his cholesterol was. Cracks me up when smokers are worried about eating organic.

Kinda like going to McDs ordering a bunch of burgers/nuggets and a Diet Soda..........

I don't think tobacco should be outlawed. Health effecting information is now available, not covered up as before. The general public should be allowed to decide if they want to use it or not.

Alcohol, speeding, skiing, snowmobiling, racing, running, flying, hang gliding, ... add your own thing... all kill people.

so do you think the organic growers go out and wash off all the rain water from their veggies?start reading .organic is not as organic as you or I think.also it is an inefficient way to grow food.the yeild per acre is much less than the established way.hope your buddy that's a doc isn't as big a hypocrite as mine is.caught him smoking and he,s been away several times for sampling his own meds a little too much.

That point is also odd to me. It is the net calorie count that matters. If I have the Diet Soda, on a calorie only basis, I just balanced the fries out. Isn't that good?

I read that as well. Smokers actually cost less in the long run in just Social Security pay outs compared to the increased health care they need. That's just the reality not necessarily the desire. Smokers just die a lot earlier than non-smokers.

bubba their not banning it they just curtailed it .up here in Canada they raised the taxes way up also but they didn't twist the numbers like iowa did.i find govt anti smoking numbers suspect mostly highly exaggerated.back to us up here.taxes way up to curtail smoking,govt had to drop taxes after awhile as smuggling increased massively and smoking actually increased. when you totally ban something you have zero control over who gets it and at what age etc.i believe smoking will slowly die a natural death in time and then I wonder what the next great crusade will be?

It's based on statistics. The longer you live the more you will spend on healthcare. It's a fact.

hey come on up to Ontario in a while our provincial govt is moving to force restaurants to put the calories on menues under the belief that people will think twice about what they order.dont think that worked out to well for the grocerie stores.well at least ive never looked at the labels anyways.and if you seen a picture of our minister of heath would you take advise from somebody that large about eating wisely?

Stop right there, unless you can prove that outlandish claim it's meaningless in the face of all the evidence. I personally know a number of people in Iowa that have quit because, "It's too expensive" and "you can only smoke at home or in your own yard".

You said banning increased smoking, clearly it DOES NOT.

I told you what happened up here.smoking increased when they raised the taxes.what earthly reason would I have to lie?theve raised the taxes again ,smuggling will increase again its that simple.the more of the older generation that finally passes on will of course make the numbers swing towards less smokers vs non its simple math I believe.so it depends on where you live right now today!in Canada we have indian reserves that produce cigs and the govt cant or wont tell them what to do .so anywhere there is a res its easy to get cheap smokes .thats a fact .so unless you can stop the sale of smokes there you cant curtail it.why do you say my claims are outlandish ,is it because I disagree with your ideas or that it proves that maybe stats can be used the way the author wishes them to be used?i live in Canada, you don't, so I clearly know more about what happened up here than you .education will make people stop not stupid laws that cant be enforced.though I honor the laws so far as they are up here about smoking in public places just like in iowa (had them here just as long if not longer) because I don't believe these ones are not stupid on the most part.how would you enforce not smoking in a vehicle?how about in the woods ?on the boat?home?people still smoke bubba they just don't smoke everywhere now.you said you had friends that quit because of price ,would they have done the same if they could get them for half of what you pay in a regular store?i will not discuss this anymore as its got out of hand and your the worst kind of non smoker there is and that's an ex-smoker.theres no compromise no reasoning with an ex anything.you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that even though you call me a liar I will still defend your right to say what you will.

Here in the states, you can find E-cigs in most little corner stores as well as the established tobacco shops, I actually bought one of my first ones off ebay, but I know you can't sell them on ebay any longer, but if you go to google and search for e-cigs, you will find many outlets selling them for much less that I bought my first ones for.

You gradually quit smoking and as you do you then gradually lower your nicotine level until you reach 0 and you officially quit. They can be found in any gas station or grocery store but they have the bad ones. I go out my way to order online.If you need more info on where to order online then let me know.

That is incorrect. You can still by ecigs on ebay. Just ordered a new one this morning. I dont vape those cheap ones. My newest vape cost me 120 bucks.
