Looks great! Will you have to worry about accidently sanding all the paint off the rivet heads when you wet sand? Sounds like asking for trouble to me.

Thanks Zombee its why I haven't touched it and am considering just buffing it out.

No pics today I have just been cleaning the shop and tearing down the trailer.

Still not much to post, the trailer is basically stripped.

This is about the worst of the pitting though.

That's scary rust on a fully boxed frame........

I fully agree, and I am going over the trailer with a fine tooth comb, normally I wouldn't have stripped one down this far BUT I am going to strip it bare fully inspect it probably scope the inside with a camera, to see if it I can make it serviceable again. I can't say that I am overly surprised considering that there was moss growing on a fender when I drug it home.

Most of it is coming off with a sander and 100 grit, but it isn't the outside I am worried about it is the inside.

I didn't do to bad stripping it I only snapped to fender Ubolts, and to main support bolts, though I am pretty sure they were locktited into place.

I guess I am lagging way behind on the updates. It has been a VERY stressfull few days work changes, looks like I may end up with about a $4,000 salary cut so time to go job hunting. Then off to the eye doctor and dentist. Then get the pontoon out of the water for seasonal clean up work on the camper etc etc etc....

Anyways the trailer is mostly done and ready to be put back together it isn't pretty but it should last me through this season at least. I bascially sanded most of the rust out of it, and painted it didn't bother with pics.

I got all of this done.

I really haven't taken any shortcuts on this restoration but I have decided to take a major one.

Rather than going through by hand and basically rewiring everything on the boat I bought an entirely predone harness.

It is all marine grade wire all tinned conections I don't like the fact that it isn't soldered and heatshrinked but I guess it is acceptable. I basically stole it I couldn't have purchased all the stuff to do it for what I paid for the harness.

These are going in the boat at the completion as well.

Thanks Jas I can't wait to get her upright and back on the trailer. Then it is leak test again, GLUVIT, then floor install carpet, upholstery, electrical, and motor.

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

I work for a small business and we have been seriously affected by the new taxes and such, I love what I do but at the end of the day I do it for the bottom line.

Regardless we will keep moving on the restoration. Luckily the only real bills we have are the mortgage and daily living expenses, my truck payment is only $180 per month and I could basically pay it off now. So it shouldn't hurt to much but it is definetly motivation to get looking.

Sounds like you're looking at the work changes the right way.

Well here is the good news the work situation has resolved itself, the company at strong urging of some top performers has decided to reconsider for now. it made my day. I really didn't get much done today I flipped the plywood, and epoxied the backside today so now each side of plywood has one coat of epoxy.

So here is my tribute to IBOATES

Each one of the edges has now been epoxied twice.

Sorry everyone but for some reason today my camera decided to take REALLY blurry pics

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Work has paused a little bit on the starcraft I had to bring the Toon home to get it cleaned up and do some minor repairs from a storm last year, replacing the sundeck, and I am eliminating the VRO on the motor.

My dad was nice enough to bring an entire garage Literally to store in my shop on Saturday so I am low on shop space at the moment,

I have the 28' Toon in there on a trailer, and a 24'x24' garage in there in pieces.

Hey Sig - You have the coolest floor ever. Really neat, man :cheerful:

Yikes, you lost all the room in that big garage. And a garage within a garage. Sorta like one of those Russian nested dolls.

Now don't start riding the toon around and forget about the real tinny. :) Good news on the work front too. :clap2:

Oh no the toon and the garage is a temporary situation. Last year my dad got a free garage, all he had to do was tear it down remove it and rebuild at his house, he tore it down removed it and let it sit outside uncovered for 6 months I am allowing him to store it for 90 days until he can get home from a business trip and rebuild it then. The toon is getting a new sundeck, and removing the VRO then it is off to the campground with it.

The REAL tinny is on track, everyone in this forum has contributed to my boat everyone deserves a spot. There just isn't really much exciting to show at the moment. I have been working but not much picture worthy. Mostly on the trailer, so I can get it road worthy and get the hull flipped back over. I am really tired of having the boat laying upside down but you really can't rush it to much it takes time for the epoxy and paint to cure, and rushing it is just going to make matters bad.
