I had a similar day when I painted the Blue Flamingo!!! All I can say is, I recovered and she turned out bee-U-TEE-Ful!!! I'm sure yours will too! Hang in there!!!:joyous: When she has her new dress on and is all shiny and bright this day will become a dim memory. I promise!!!;)

Crapola, Sig. At worst you might have to do a light primer re-coat. I guess the good thing is the final job is going to as smooth as a babies tush.

On the stinking L, first you get big hammer in your left hand and a can of air (or a nozzle with your new compressor) in your right hand. Then spray the air in the keyboard. Smash to cookie crumbs and stale nacho chips blowing out with the hammer to teach them a lesson.

Are the "QWERTY" keys just considered collateral damage?

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Don't feel bad Sig, there are more "why me?" types out here who are just like you. Same thing happened to me, except I tried to roll my topside paint. I could not get it to work, sags everywhere so I had to sand it down to smooth and that primer underneath is like a snowflake, touch it and its gone. I got the paint on my SN with a HVLP and it looks good, not beautiful. Like they say it's best viewed like a boat, from yards not inches.

All you can do is keep slogging forward.

Sorry to hear about your paint Sig, you put a lot of work in the prep. I see Murphy traveled south from Inmotions place to yours, pesky guy goes around causing nothing but grief.:blue:

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Well guys, as rough as yesterday was today was exactly the opposite.

I sanded smooth this morning basically from where I mixed it wrong most of the paint came of with 220.

The new compressor shoots the paint like a dream. I set it down to 50 psi and I couldn't be happier. Tomorrow I am going to sand it tack it off, and shoot a second coat if it looks as good as the first that went on today I am going to lightly sand buff and call it good.

After all that today I got the first coat of epoxy on the floor and transom today.

Plenty of pics coming tomorrow.

So as promised today is picture day. This is all the work put into it the last three days it sure doesn't look like much but its been all weekend long and I am quite pleased with the results.

This is the heartbreak that was friday.

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Sorry guys for the third post but this is some real good stuff and my sincere kick in the junk to Murphy after friday.

After the first recoat and cure overnight I woke up early and scuffed everything to 320 grit.

Tacked it all off with Acetone.

I thought man I have no idea what all the lines and crap are in it. Then I realized it is the shop door reflecting in the paint.

My truck is parked about 20 feet away.

This is before the final wet sand and buff.

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Thank you everyone, I am not disappointed at all for being my absolute first time ever using an HVLP gun. The new air compressor rocks compared to the old one.

Looks great Sig, one suggestion for you. GET RID of that worthless blue tape and use the green frog tape for your paint lines, you won't be sorry trust me.

PS - Don't let grub know you shot the bottom of your hull with Rusto... :D

The green tape is Definetly superior had some of this laying around so I used it. The final layout will definetly be done with the green tape.
