Coming along real nice Sig, I like the name your Admiral picked. The hardener is very pricey.

Yeah Glenn not that it was outrageous it was just surprising and kind of caught me off guard. Anyways today it got scotch brighted and reshot with primer.
Here is where we are.

My lighting sucks but I am very pleased with the results.

Primer turned out real nice, do you think you need another coat of primer?

Glen I don't think one more would hurt, there is one spot on the other side I am not overly pleased with I may just touch up the one spot.

Looking good there Sig, it's easy to be anal about the paint because we all know that's all anyone will notice when looking at your boat.

Your trailer question, I didn't see it got answered about the wiring. My EZ Loader has holes for the wires, one on the left side of the tongue behind the coupler and then one on each side where the tail lights are mounted. If you don't have the holes, I suggest you make your own before painting. To fish the wires through the tube, I used a shop vac, kite type string and a cotton ball. From the hole by the coupler start with the vac, feed the cotton ball from a side hole until it gets up there, hook the string and pull it out the hole. Then all you have to do is tape your wires to the string and pull them through to the front.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the compliments and support guys I sincerely appreciate it. I love the shop vac idea I had never even thought of it.

No pics tonight all I did was scuff it up a little for the top coat and who wants more pics of a white boat hull.

So what do you all think for the gunwales paint or carpet?

Carpet on the gunwales is ridiculous. Seriously, don't do it.

Yeah I was going to paint for some reason had the the thought carpet would be nice for getting in and out. THis is going to be the family boat so not much fishing on it my next Starcraft resto will be a fishing machine :)

It was a thought not so much a serious one but I had entertained it. I am going to carpet the front of the consoles. I am probably not going to replace the bow cushions on the insides of the gunwales in the bow. The way the factory did them originally looked kind of cheesy to me.

I am still way far out from interior decorating on it but it is fun to think about to keep the motivation level up.

The weather here is nasty and rainy today, I am kind of using it as an excuse to not do much. The weather is supposed to be 70-80 and sunny Saturday through Wednesday, so I am hoping by Wednesday I can have a good jump start on the Epoxy, the paint will be finished, and I can hopefully knock the paint on the trailer out in 2 days as I am just going to sand and throw some rustoleum on it.

Mount a couple of those rubber treads(not sure of correct name) on the gunwales....for traction when stepping in/out of the boat.

For a family boat carpet on the gunwales will be fine if you want to. There's no wood underneath so any moisture it holds won't hurt anything.

I'm considering doing a wood gunwale top to my boat in the future. Just a nice A grade plywood epoxied and urethaned and fastened with SS blind rivets.

Yeah I think I am going to paint it I just can't bring myself to carpet the whole front of the bow and it would look silly doing it any other way.

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

Well guys and ladies, today was a VERY bad day in the SigSaurP229 household. While in the middle of spraying the first top coat my air compressor gave me the big buzz off. The motor locked up tight. That wasn't the worst of it.

Apparently when I went, to mix the rustoleum I grabbed paint thinner instead of reducer, causes mass runs everywhere. It is horrible, then when the compressor went it blew crap all in the paint as well. So I am currently, sanding everything all the way back to the primer I am hoping I can save the primer, but I really don't know.

The only positive was I replaced my air compressor with a newer, bigger, and no longer oil free compressor.

And for the love of everything good and Holy can someone please tell me how to fix the sticking "L" key on my laptop.

Sorry, seemed like a good idea before I had to type it............

This guy sounds reasonable though....... Use a SMALL flathead screwdriver, not the biggest 1 in the shed

Congrats on the new compressor, sorry to hear about the paint problems.
